Localizations or Vocalizations?
editI guess either is correct. 2600:8807:4809:E100:DD6D:93B9:78AC:9A6E (talk) 05:13, 11 December 2021 (UTC) Amused Dfoofnik (not signed in)
Current dub status
editThe article currently says that the "line was retained, and has featured in most English re-dubs and video games ever since". While this is technically true, it's misleading in the sense that the English dub for Dragon Ball Z Kai, which is considered the definitive version of the series, has corrected the line and Sabat uses the correct value of "over 8,000" in it. The current phrasing in the article implies that the "over 9,000" line continues to be used, which isn't actually the case. However, the phrasing of the article is technically accurate and I'm not sure how to change the article's phrasing in a way that provides clarity. --LeoEvilsbane (talk) 19:29, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Possible other cultural references
edit1. In Blizzard's MMO World of Warcraft there is an achievement "Over 9000" which is gained for acquiring over 9000 achievement points.
2. This would require confirmation or denial by Microsoft, but a possible reference is the default screen buffer height of a console window under Windows 10, and probably Windows 11. If you open a console window (e.g. cmd.exe), right click the title bar, select properties, and then select the layout tab, the screen buffer height is 9001 lines. 38.158.230.111 (talk) 02:46, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
