length
editThe NYSDOT Traffic Counts page for the Bronx seems to indicate that the Route 295I designation actually continues along I-695 and not the Cross Bronx extension. The segment lengths also seem to indicate that. Can anyone else verify this? If that is true, then what is the NYSDOT designation for the segment of I-295 between I-95 and I-695? --Polaron | Talk 01:22, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well I seem to remember hearing that FHWA says that both I-295 and I-695 are really I-295. I don't know whether this might be related. I've also seen maps that show a road called the Throgs Neck Expressway, starting from the foot of the bridge, then along 295, then along 695, ending at the Bruckner Expressway (95). So perhaps the 295I designation follows the Throgs Neck Expressway. In any case, this is very strange. The best bet to sort it all out is to take a drive down there and see what the reference markers say. I'll be going to Long Island in early August and will check it out if noone else gets a chance beforehand. --Chris 11:54, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- According to the FHWA Webisite and NYCRoads.com, I-695 is considered a sub section of I-295 by the FHWA. I guess they consider it a mile long exit ramp to I-95 northbound and vise versa. Jgcarter 05:08, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Somebody screwed-up the routebox!
editWho eliminated the I-295 shield for the routebox, and how can it be restored?! DanTD 19:02, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Fixed. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 19:13, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Great, now how did you do it? Because I just did the same thing for Interstate 270 (Maryland). DanTD 00:27, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- All you have to do is remove the "shield_ext" parameter. The coding for this parameter got changed earlier this week, so a lot of routeboxes will appear broken. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 01:00, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

SR 295
editIsn't SR 295 and I-295 even close? SR 295 is stubby. Somebody told me to merge SR 495 with i-495 eariler? I never been to New york so I have no clus if I want to merge SR 295 or not. I'm not goingto merge I-190/SR-190 or I-290/SR-290, those routes is not connect.--Freewayguy Discussions Show all changes 00:10, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- NY 295 is about 100 miles north of Interstate 295 and are not related. no merge needed.Mitch32contribs 00:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Mitch is right. The same goes for Interstate 278 and New York State Route 278. ----DanTD (talk) 14:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

editI-278 is in Union County,NJ along with NYC. NY-278 is in Reenslader County, home to the New York-Massachusetts-Vermont Tripoint. NY-295 is in Colombia County, vand I-295 is in the Bronx and Queens.NY-295 is at the end of the Taconic, 104 miles north of the Bronx River Parkway, so they are 120 miles away, or two hours in good traffic.I do not think a move is necessary. Although, why am I even involved in a 2008 conversation.2600:387:5:805:0:0:0:AC (talk) 18:27, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Part of I-295 is actually the Throgs Neck Expressway
editSo, upon close inspection (i.e. driving thru taking pictures and reviewing Google Street View), it seems clear that the name "Throgs Neck Expressway" actually applies to the portion of I-295 between I-695 and the Throgs Neck Bridge, based on the service roads in that area. I think the article should be edited to indicate this. Famartin (talk) 22:48, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
