Google.de
editHi, the most relevant (not to name him the mega) censor in the Germanic internet sphere was/is google.de. A German scientist, in 2007/08, published his empirical study on the issue in which the author en détail works out how "Nachzensur" is undertaken by google.de: Richard Albrecht, nachzensur.de: Einblicke in die deutsche „Google-Gesellschaft“; in: Aufklärung und Kritik, 14 (2007) II: 214-224; Such Linge. Vom Kommunistenprozeß zu Köln zu google.de. Sozialwissenschaftliche Recherchen zum langen, kurzen und neuen Jahrhundert (= Berichte aus der Sozialwissenschaft), Aachen: Shaker, 2008, pp. 85-100 (ISBN 978-3-8322-7333-0; http://www.shaker.de/Online-Gesamtkatalog-Download/2009.11.15-10.53.12-80.136.102.41-radEA8B4.tmp/3-8322-7333-6_ABS.PDF )

German version of Wikipedia
editI just added a short paragraph about the censorship thats occuring in our german version Wikipedia. While I understand that its easier to silence people that voice criticism, I'd like you to try to accept this instead. Its a serious problem here. I have talked with dozents of former Wikipedia.de authors, and they all left because of the massive mobbing and censorship. A small group of people closes theire eyes upon the fact that theire senseless and unreflected abuse of power destroys this project. I love the Wikipedia, but whats happening here in Germany is a shame! I will redo the page once more and hope that you wont undo it without the slightest try to explain your actions, Vishnu! 83.216.240.165 (talk) 10:34, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Undone again, without any explanation or discussion. By a youngster who shows himself in dirty cloths and pot-swollen eyes on his profile page. Wikipedia was a nice idea, but people like you destroy it just cause they are stoned and want to annoy people. Good work. 83.216.240.165 (talk) 10:45, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I meant to undo it, but must have been beaten to the punch. Wikipedia requires that all information be verified by siting reliable sources. Your paragraph provided nothing--just your own point of view and original research. If this is the "censorship" u see at german wp, then you will see it here too, because it's core policy. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:47, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I would hardly call a white shirt 'dirty clothes'. This is ridiculous. This sort of ignorance and arrogance frustrates me. petiatil »User »Contribs 10:53, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
The frustrating thig is, that I get five answers/explanations after I attacked one of your authors, but zero when my addition was hidden the first time, or when I asked for a reason and placed it a second time. All of that was of no intrest to you, cause youre just as unfriendly and uncooperative as the rest of the Wikipedia crowed. 83.216.240.165 (talk) 10:57, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I believe Qwyrxian clearly explained as did myself our rationale for the removal of your content. Again, see point of view and original research. Thank you. petiatil »User »Contribs 11:00, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
No, noone did. Noone even answered me. Till I said you could be a drug addict. And know what? I learened from it: If you want to get the attention here, explaning your point and asking for explanations wont help, but attacking people will. Again: good work guys! 83.216.240.165 (talk) 11:06, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sure that's not how it played out, typing sometimes takes a moment. As far as the timeframe, Qwyrxian and myself are not working together on this matter. petiatil »User »Contribs 11:09, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- On a lighter note, you are more than welcome to add content to this encyclopedia if you provide a reliable source as a citation. See Reliable sources as reference to this. Perhaps if you can find a news article relating to this topic, you may use is as a reference, however, you can not add your own opinions. petiatil »User »Contribs 11:03, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
See, this clearly proves my point: When its about you, you got half an hour to discuss it with me, but a short explanation for undoing my changes was too much to ask for. Its all about you here, not about the Wikipedia. But its ok, you won, I'm leaving. Grats! 83.216.240.165 (talk) 11:17, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry to see you go. petiatil »User »Contribs 11:19, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Maybe the JMStV about to come and impact should be mentioned. There are already blogs shutting down (German) and others incl. even online game sites are to follow. I'll leave it to the contributors of this article to decide.
This link is just a funny add-on. Cheers,TMCk (talk) 17:06, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
List of Blocked Domains in Germany
editWhy does Wikipedia not publish a list of the domains that are blocked for german users of the internet or a link where German people can find this list? www.adolfhitler.ws threws the error "This domain has been blocked." while www.adolfhitler.dk works fine. Not beeing a nazi, I don't like that in 2012. Sometimes it happens that two or three search results by Google are not published "because of copyright laws" for Germans. This message quickly disappears without telling what the results might have been. I don't like that either. It's real censorship. I find myself behind a new German wall. I think these things have to be published for everyone who cares about it. Where can I find it? - Rheinfeier (talk) 20:49, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Germany one of the most restrictive countries when it comes to censorship
editI think it should be explicitly mentioned somewhere in the article that Germany is in fact among the top THREE (!) Internet "censors" by most measures in the Google Transparency Report, which is quite alarming, and quite noteworthy because most people in the world probably think of Germany as one of the most free countries... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.187.103.77 (talk) 10:35, 14 December 2012 (UTC)
I would like to add that I use to write comments on certain media websites like welt.de, which is rather one of the few sites which allow commenting at all. Of course I do not insult or threaten anyone personally, nor do I write anything too extreme, but I write quite critically. I can only guess, but 40-50% of my comments do not pass "approval." Yes, comments are only shown if they pass moderation instead of being removed if reported. However, I tend to gather a lot of "likes", 1100 for 60 comments, so at least a good amount of people approve of what I write. I tend to write right winged and pragmatic, and criticize leftist ideology, so I am in counter position to the media's agenda. But so do at least 80% of all other users present there too. Criticizing the moderation has 0% chance to pass moderation. So yes, censoring in Germany is really extreme and directed strictly against right wing. I come from Hungary, so I have an outside view on this topic. 2003:C0:DBC3:500:DA7:5B33:FA41:30DC (talk) 18:10, 8 June 2017 (UTC) - Viktor
- @ Viktor: If you call the infamous far-right Axel Springer (who publishes the Welt) "leftist", you are actually a fascist and should better go back there you came from - Goodbye. --91.56.205.37 (talk) 15:15, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Concept of Freedom of Speech is non-existent in Germany
editGermany legally does not have a Freedom of Speech right (Redefreiehit) but only a 'right to have an opinion' (Meinungsfreiheit). I am not making this up. This enables the German government to use a plethora of legal interceptions towards anyone which are, indeed, used permanently. This should clearly be pointed out in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:45:4904:DF61:1C41:DDDF:214C:7285 (talk) 09:47, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Germany doesn't have a "right to bear arms" too. Most countries don't have either of this anarchist trash laws, and this is a good thing. I am happy we don't have a Kux Klux Klan or the like in Germany. Actually there are still way to many hatemongers that should better be silenced, like Axel Springer or PI-News.--91.56.205.37 (talk) 15:11, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Cultural Censorship via Youtube
editI would like to mention cultural censorship via Youtube. Since Youtube is the defacto standard when it comes to music videos and GEMA owns many rights, GEMA is censoring access to many videos on Youtube. It's under the mantle of copyright but it's cultural censorship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.5.66.75 (talk) 19:52, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
