The term Mahommedan is old-fashioned and possibly derogitory, it should be changed.
- No, it is not about fashion. If you have a better word, please suggest. Mahommedan is not derogatory, as it is also the name of the era.
Special Writing Style
editEarlier Deeds and ledgers contain the specimens of the old denomination/writing styles for annas and paisas and takas and rupees. e.g. ||. meant Eigth annas or 50%. [help] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.200.239.60 (talk) 08:48, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
8 anna in every language
edit- Sometimes, 50 Paise is colloquially referred to as 8 ānās (Atthanni in Hindi and Urdu, and Ettu ānā, pronounced "Enimidi ANaalu" in Telugu, "Ettna" in Tamil, Malayalam and Entu AaNe pronounced as "EntaNe" in Kannada) and 25 Paise as 4 ānās (Chawanni in Hindi and Urdu, and Naal ānā, pronounced "Naalna" in Tamil and Malayalam, and Naalku Aane pronounced as "Naalkane" in Kannada).
Are all these translations useful?
What does it mean that Ettu ānā is pronounced "Enimidi ANaalu" in Telugu? Is it written ettu ānā in any language? —Tamfang (talk) 18:45, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
