Mary Stewart's book
editIn Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy she debunks Incubi. Blaming demons for otherwise unexplainable pregnancies is on par with blaming Zeus for unexpected pregnancies in Greek times. These days we have DNA tests to determine paternity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.113.49.126 (talk) 08:55, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
That 'Merlin Trilogy' was a series of fantasy novels ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.157.10.99 (talk) 21:55, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Suggestion to correct article Categories
editI have issues with the Categories that this article is listed under. I will note that Succubus has none of the following categories on its page that are listed here: Rape | Sleep. The Demon category is correct and should remain but the other two should be removed from the article. I would suggest that other suitable categories would include: Legendary creatures | Christian Mythology or Religion | Medieval Myths

the band
editWhen searching for "Incubus" Wikipedia should direct to the band first and have a line like the disambiguation to go to this page. I don't have scientific research here but I bet a lot more people searching "Incubus" want the band and not this thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.74.117.9 (talk) 19:18, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Combine the article on incubus and succubus into one?
editAt the moment they are covering much the same material - the 'scientific explanation' is exactly the same - but are out of step, with one covering some bits, and the other some others. They are talking about the same phenomenon... Ender's Shadow Snr (talk) 22:58, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Concern regarding "Scientific Explanations"
editThis section needs rewriting and retitling. This is an article about a mythological being. Mythological beings do not have "Scientific Explanations," offering one seems to violate wikipedia Neutrality policy, as it suggests not only that incubi are "unreal," but that the imagining of them is so bizarre it requires explanation. There may be a place for some of this content, I imagine a link to a part of an article on the history of attitudes toward sexual assault, or to medical history. Stuart Strahl (talk) 02:41, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- Stuart, I think you have ever so slightly missed the point. Some people "think" that they have seen or otherwise experienced "something". Something fantastic, bizarre, irrational. They "think" it was real. Or they may even realize that it isn't real, no matter how "realistic" it seemed. The "scientific explanation" is an attempt to explain what really happens. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.166.214.238 (talk) 09:29, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- Science is not able to explain what may be supernatural - while this information should be in the article, basically this comes down to faith. Alternate views that are in Reliable Sources must also be mentioned.50.111.19.178 (talk) 10:36, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
