Ad 'Id', 'id', 'ID', 'Identity':

I have read a lot of Sigmund Freud in German laguage: this special wikipedia article is in error of application to the very term 'id' for Freud's 'it'. - Freud referred to the 'it" (in German: 'es' - for sex desire, hunger, thirst, agression, fear, the unconscious) - Freud did NOT refer to the human identity with the German term 'es' - English: 'it'. The human 'identity' - abbreviated Id, id, ID is a later term - maybe even after Freud's time. The human identity (Id, id, ID) takes a lot more than the 'it' (German: 'es') and is not a fixed product: our human ego is changeable. The human ego - the human identity - functions by the complex human 'triune brain': the 'it' (German: 'es') functions by the 'reptiloid brain' as one of theree parts within the human mammal ' triune brain'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Intelligencescout (talkcontribs) 07:20, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Notes

edit

How about putting "Id." here as used in bibliographies. I see it in this biblography, but don't know what it means.

prefix?

edit

Is ID really a prefix? --200.126.147.111 08:08, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good point. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, it can be used as an abbreviation, a noun, or a suffix. jthetzel (talk) 14:23, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Since none of the entries on this disambiguation page are prefixes or suffixes, I do not think that the page belongs in either the prefix of suffix category. jthetzel (talk) 14:30, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Id in Iddish

edit

In some dialects of the Yiddish - or Iddish - language, "Id" means "Jew." Das Baz, aka Erudil 18:15, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation pages are not multilingual glossaries or dictionaries. If there is an article with relevant information on the subject, there may be something to disambiguate. Otherwise it might be something to add to the Wiktionary entry. olderwiser 18:25, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Interaction Design

edit

The Interaction Design page does not mention the abbreviation, instead trying to propose the IxD abbreviation standard. However, in practice I have seen ID used as well. Even one of the Interaction Design external links uses the abbreviation: #4 http://www.boxesandarrows.com/view/introducing_interaction_design. Boxes and Arrows is an important resource in the field: http://www.boxesandarrows.com/about/house-styleguide. Should I update the Interaction Design page as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hookandloop (talkcontribs) 12:11, 15 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Placement of Id

edit
Id, one of the Id, ego and super-ego psychic apparatus defined in Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psyche

Came here looking for this, only to see it at the very bottom of the page. I suspect that the majority of readers who came to this page are looking for this, so its placement should be higher. Viriditas (talk) 22:05, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
