spelling of 'Humphry'
editIt appears that this page has been incorrectly moved from 'Humphry Repton' to 'Humphrey Repton'. I have proposed that it be moved back. I am absolutely certain that 'Humphry' is the correct spelling; it appears in every reputable book by or about him that I have seen. Unfortunately, there are lots of articles on the web that use the incorrect spelling, so it is easy to see how this came about. JPDW 04:34, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- The spelling of the subject of this article is incorrect and therefore the article needs to be moved back to Humphry Repton. Although Humphrey is now more usually written with an 'e', in this case 'Humphry' is correct. Looks like its been wrong for the last two years. This is a common and understandable error repeated on many web pages, but it needs fixing. JPDW 03:41, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC).
Correct-Checked spelling on tombstone at Aylsham Norfolk and it is indeed 'Humphry'.Northmetpit 09:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's also possible that some "reputable" authors from the past have spelled his name "Humphrey". This identification of a person's name with a particular spelling of it, deeming all other traditional spellings of the same name "wrong" for that person, is a fairly new invention that didn't exist in the 18th or early 19th centuries. Even the same person could spell their name differently back then. 151.177.62.193 (talk) 21:43, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
Repton's significant and lasting contribution to landscape design
editNeeds to discuss Repton's groundbreaking (ha) naturalistic sensibility, prevalent to this day. 208.99.242.26 (talk) 14:54, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
