City location
editFrom the time the article was written in May 2006 until recently the article stated that the arena was located in Pembroke Pines and then was changed without explanation or references to Hollywood. The article has been in Category:Pembroke Pines, Florida since that category was created in November 2012. The article states, "At the time, what is now the six- to eight-lane Pines Boulevard was a two-lane road in a thinly populated area of unincorporated Broward County. The land on which the arena stood was annexed to Pembroke Pines in 1980." Nowhere in the article does it state the arena was located in Hollywood. Per WP:BRD, now that the discussion has been stated, I am reverting back to the stable version that says the arena was located in Pembroke Pines. Aspects (talk) 18:17, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
- If you google "Hollywood Sportatorium" and search images you will find many tickets and posters which all say "Hollywood, Florida". It's also worth mentioning absolutely none say "Pembroke Pines". Evangp (talk) 17:02, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hollywood, Florida should be mentioned somewhere in the article. Lets not forget the arena itself is named after the city. Evangp (talk) 17:06, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Furthermore I see no evidence it was located in Pembroke Pines. I'm very, very angry you keep reverting my precise and knowledgeable edit! Evangp (talk) 17:09, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- You need to provide reliable sources to back up challenged edits. Furthermore, a consensus needs to be formed here before adding the information instead of continually adding what tends to be the same information over and over and could be seen as edit warring. Please let the discussion unfold, a consensus formed and then any possible changes can be made then.

- As for your new argument, there is nothing in the article as to how the arena was named, so that information could be added with reliable sources. Photos of tickets and posters are not reliable sources. Your edits that left Pembroke Pines in the article shows that you did see evidence it was located there, so that argument can be dismissed. Also, as I have stated numerous times the WP:LEAD needs to summarize the articles, while your changes to the lead are not backed up by the article itself, so they should not be made. Aspects (talk) 17:41, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Why aren't tickets reliable sources? Evangp (talk) 18:59, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Because they are tickets -- which are not sources, let alone reliable ones. See WP:RS. Ticketmaster (whose website is blocked by WP so I can't link it) says that Sun Life Stadium is located in "Miami, FL," but that doesn't change the fact that it is actually located in Miami Gardens. In any event, there is no question that despite its name, the Sportatorium was never located within the boundaries of Hollywood proper. The western border of Hollywood is roughly the Turnpike, which as the article indicates is ten miles east of where the arena stood. The area was unincorporated Broward County when the arena was built, and halfway through the arena's life the area was annexed to Pembroke Pines. There is no dispute about that. Thus, it is accurate to say that it "was an indoor arena in Pembroke Pines, Florida." It would be highly inaccurate to say that it was located in Hollywood, Florida. Early Concert observations
editHaving attended a number of events at the facility, I have a few observations not yet shared. Originally the stage was located on the east end of the building, and it was built over rodeo style wooden cattle chutes I believe. The main floor was dirt, enclosed by what looked to be corral style cattle railings. The only seating were bleachers surrounding the 3 interior sides of the building, outside the center rodeo? ring. The only consideration for any fresh air/AC was over a dozen accordion style large metal roll up doors behind the bleachers on the outside walls. Leaving one night in the typical one lane of horrible traffic slowly moving east, with no oncoming traffic, I speed up and started to pass the entire line of cars, never exceeding the speed limit. I soon noticed a line of cars following me in the passing lane. After a few miles of this I noticed the cars behind me starting to move back over for no apparent reason. The reason soon became obvious, a Florida Highway Trooper was chasing me, and pulled me over, and he wasn't happy. However, we both agreed while chatting on the side of the road while pulled over I hadn't violated a single traffic law. but the humiliation of sitting there while all the cars I had passed slowly slurked by broke this teenager's spirit.
