Changed to redirect
editI turned the page into a redirect to Arithmetic#History since the article had several severe issues. Except for the image caption of the Ishango bone, it did not cite any sources. It contained false claims, for example, arithmetic was not first developed in Islamic countries since it existed well before Islam, and several claims were likely WP:OR. Another issue is that the scope of the article was very limited. The redirect target gives a better and more comprehensive treatment of the subject. Some of these problems are also discussed at Talk:Arithmetic/GA2, thanks to Dedhert.Jr for pointing this out. The subject "History of arithmetic" is notable so it would be great if someone could turn this into a proper article again that avoids all the mentioned issues. - @Phlsph7 I would expect that the article History of arithmetic could be expanded into fully translated from Russian article. Instead. I'm surprised that it is already been redirected. Dedhert.Jr (talk) 10:24, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- The Russian article has a lot of material. I can't talk about its quality but it would be good to have a proper article on this topic. For someone who knows Russian and is familiar with the history of arithmetic, translating the Russian article could be a valuable project. Maybe I misunderstood you since I thought it was your suggestion that we don't keep the article. Feel free to revert me if you preferred the incomplete article to none. In that case, the false information should at the very least be removed. Phlsph7 (talk) 12:12, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
