The entries on this page in regard to the Mughal Empire and then later the British Raj are not correct or are heavily biased/slanted. The Mughal Empire, according to many current articles in The India Times, was often brutal, with frequent massacres reported... some where as many as 30,000 were massacred, most civilians. An Islamic rule, Hindus were heavily subjugated and did not have the same rights as their Muslim rulers. An example of this was that any Hindus who attempted to enter the Taj Mahal were put to the sword and beheaded. No such restrictions took place under British rule.

Another example of this bias is show by the term 'divide and conquer' being used for the partition of Pakistan. It is well documented history that Muslim leaders lobbied for decades for the separation of Pakistan, and this was finally granted by the British and through the UN. There was no divide and rule objective, as this was instigated by Muslim leaders.

Finally, the famines under British rule. Sadly, due to changing weather conditions, famines were a regular feature in India and happened regularly under Mughal and previous rules - but there is no mention of these previous famines. These have been glossed over and only the famines under British rule mentioned, as if these adverse, regular weather changes and failed crops were somehow the fault of the British. No mention is given either to the institution of democracy in India and the great expansion of the railway network and bridges under British rule.

Overall, tremendously slanted and biased entries regarding both Mughal and British rule periods. Scribejohn (talk) 12:00, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Who was the last king of India?

India's last king Wajid Ali Shah was written out of the history books when Awadh was annexed by the Company in February 1856. After long years of painstaking research, noted historian Rosie Llewellyn-Jones revives his memory and returns him his rightful place as one of India's last great rulers. 103.226.188.8 (talk) 07:03, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

ChatGPT shortening the lead

I give ChatGPT the lead and it shortened the lead to one paragraph. While the text obviously not suitable for Wikipedia, it is quite interesting to look at:

Anatomically modern humans first arrived in the Indian subcontinent from Africa between 73,000 and 55,000 years ago, according to modern genetics. The transition from foraging to farming and pastoralism, known as settled life, began in South Asia around 7000 BCE. The Indus Valley Civilization, an early civilization of the Old World contemporaneous with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, developed from this settled life and flourished in present-day Pakistan and north-western India between 2500 BCE and 1900 BCE. In the early second millennium BCE, Indo-Aryan tribes migrated into the Punjab and their Vedic Period, from 1500 BCE to 500 BCE, saw the rise of Jainism and Buddhism. The Maurya Empire conquered most of the Indian subcontinent in the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE and was followed by the Gupta Empire in the 4th to 6th centuries CE, known as the classical or "Golden Age of India." Islam spread to India in the 8th century and the Mughal Empire, which synthesized Indian and Persian cultures, ruled in the 16th century. The British Empire colonized India in the 19th century and the country gained independence in 1947. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 10:55, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
