Jacobites

Surely the Jacobite attempt of 1745-46 was a major crisis for him to deal with, yet it is not mentioned in the text. I think a war on home soil in the middle of his tenure as PM warrants a mention especially in conjunction with the War of Austrian Succession which is mentioned. Maybe someone well versed in the minutae of British politics at the time can add something, I dont feel qualified. Question about References

The Reference section at the end of this article says that "Some material has been adapted from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica." In fact, entire sections (such as Section 2 Achievements) are lifted completely word for word from Britannica without specific reference to that source in the section itself or placing it in quotes. NNDB

When updating references, I found that the page about Henry Pelham on the web site NNDB shares a very large portion of text with this Wikipedia article, word for word. I do not know (yet) which is the oldest. Is Wikipedia violating NNDB's copyright or is it the other way around? Bever (talk) 22:54, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

NNDB are themselves copying the 1911 Encyclopaedia Britannica. When Wikipedia started, it was common for articles on historical people to use the public domain entry from the Encyclopaedia.--Britannicus (talk) 23:04, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

I just found out the same. The link in the previous section did not work temporarily, so I had some trouble with searching. I dislike that NNDB does not give this source, it is not a copyright violation but not very honest. So I think it has to be removed from this article as a source. By the way that Pelham was a member from the Church of England does not really need a reference anyway, since people from all other denominations were excluded from political office at the time... Henry IX nickname

Can anyone find a reliable source to substantiate the claim that his nickname was "Henry IX"? I had a quick search and couldn't find anything, so removed Pelham's name from the Henry IX disambiguation page. Meticulo (talk) 05:09, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

TSventon, I don't believe the referencing is up to par with a C-class article. The article is also comparatively short, considerably shorter than such C-class articles of British prime ministers as Robert Walpole, for instance. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 02:44, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Neveselbert (mobile) thanks, I was curious and thought it would be useful to note the problems on the talk page. I think that Start is a bit harsh as a WP:C-class article"may still have significant problems or require substantial cleanup" and the article has 21kB, while Wing the example given of a C class article was only 15kB in 2018.
