NPOV, accuracy.
editGraham was shot by pistols, (just) possibly in a gun fight. His daughter wasn't there, nor was West. Anmccaff (talk) 16:18, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- What's your source for these assertions? What you have raised could be an important correction, if you can support it.
PDGPA (talk) 20:01, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- First, though, what's your source for the status quo ante?
- see:
- Against the Grain: Southern Radicals and Prophets, 1929-1959 p9
- Tennessee Coal Mining, Railroading & Logging in Cumberland, Fentress, Overton, and Putnam Counties Duke, Jason Turner Pub Co, 2003 p85
- Both have accounts minus firing of machine guns, frightened little children, or even 3rd party witnesses present. This idea fails on simple inspection; Graham's daughter wrote a song about the death, and didn't ever mention being there? West was present, and did not testify? Obvious bullshit, twice over. - Thank you for responding. I didn't write the original text, so providing a source was never my responsibility. (My contributions to the article have been limited to verified additional information about Hedy's career as a singer, and after.) Do you know how to add a challenge to the article for lack of reliable source? I think Wikipedia provides a standard method for this. (I do not claim to be an expert Wikipedia editor, either.) Is there some reason you don't just make this edit to the article, for that matter? Again, thanks for your interest in improving the entry. PDGPA (talk) 20:50, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- I already have. This all seems to come down to somebody's misunderstanding of ".38 automatic" echo-chambered into...well, into what we had here. Anmccaff (talk) 21:00, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- Good fix. North8000 (talk) 21:28, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

further citation needed for '60s move to L.A.
editThe article has stated, for a while, "She moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s, where she continued singing and later married." Married whom? For how long? How did the marriage end? Honestly, this unsupported assertion seems inconsistent with the statements in the following paragraph about Hedy's 1962 engagement and 1968 marriage in London. I note the recent improvements drawn from an article in the Oxford [British] Dictionary of National Biography (curiously cited with the dates "(1938-2016)", although Hedy died in 2005). Perhaps that editor (the esteemed User:Victuallers) could also resolve this point. PDGPA (talk) 23:18, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
- (No Idea who the "esteemed" one is :-) )., All I can tell you is that the dates come from her ODNB biog that says 1938-2016. The text of the biog says 2005 but the title and the caption on the picture say 2016. I guess it is the text that is right and an ODNB sub-editor has made a mistake (its only a day old). Keep safe and good work. Victuallers (talk) 23:51, 14 November 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have a subscription to ODNB to read their entire biographical article. I see it was written by Ken Hunt, certainly a knowledgeable and reliable source. (Should his name not appear as author in the ODNB cites you added?) Does his ODNB article address the question of a possible first marriage in Los Angeles in the early 1960s? (If not, should that assertion not be flagged for lack of citation?) As for Hedy's date of death, it was definitely July 2005, as established by the obituary by the same author from The Independent as well as the obit from The Guardian, both cited in the Wiki article. The entry says 'She was described by the English folk musician A. L. Lloyd as "far and away the best of American girl singers in the [folk] revival."' The grammar is wrong, and so this makes no sense. A. L. Lloyd was either saying she was ONE of the best American girl singers, or was he saying she was "the best American girl singer." One or the other. Which is it? Jeri Southern (talk) 18:58, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Fixed in lede, per cited sources. PDGPA (talk) 15:56, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
