Should this be merged with Helmet mounted display? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.156.44.178 (talk)
in our helicopters we speak of HMSD (helmet mounted sight and display), as not only a display system is mounted to those helicopter pilot helmets, but also an infrared resp. night vision system! So at least a #REDIRECT from HMSD to HMD or a renaming of HMD to HMSD (as on that page more or less all equipments shown are HMSDs) should be done... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.156.44.178 (talk) 11:19, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- I kind of like the idea of keeping Helmet Mounted Display (for aviation aplications) separate from Head Mounted Display (for all other aplications). That said, anything you can add specific to helos would be welcome. I'll add a reference to HMSD to the intro. E2a2j (talk) 13:35, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
New images?
editIf we can get an images/some images of some of the new head mounted displays, does anyone have a problem with using them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Agent Agent (talk • contribs) 19:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Augmented reality
editHow do we feel about adding augmented reality to the applications section? And then also linking to augmented reality? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Agent Agent (talk • contribs) 19:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Virtual I/O not mentioned
editVirtual I/O released the iGlasses much earlier than Sony did the Glasstron. In fact, MechWarrior 2 came with advertisements for the iGlasses... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.241.55.128 (talk) 01:05, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Sony may have been *one* of the first in the gaming market but...
editThe CyberMaxx was released in 1995, featured two separate LCD panels for each eye, as well as 3DOF (Yaw pitch roll) head tracking. While not as big a name as Sony, it was technologically more advanced, as was the Forte VFX-1, both in the market years before Sony (http://www.stereo3d.com/hmd.htm among others). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.104.140.98 (talk) 13:40, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
I agree with both of these comments - there were a good number of HMD's around before Sony released theirs.
We really need a "history" section here. If no one else wants to edit it, I'll see if I can put something together.

- @Jgwinner: The gaming market is mostly covered in Virtual reality headset, which already includes a history section. -- intgr [talk] 05:13, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Division Group PLC consisted of Division Ltd Bristol and Division Inc and were bought by PTC in 1999
editIf you look on this page you will see a link to "PTC Announces Intent To Acquire Division Group plc" it also has a link to divison.com. https://web.archive.org/web/19990125091535/http://ptc.com/ If you look at this page you will see that it lists two divison companies: divison Ltd and division inc https://web.archive.org/web/19980203130714/http://www.division.com/ If you go to this page you will see exactly the same site https://web.archive.org/web/19970106224532/http://www.division.co.uk/ You could also seek confirmation from people who worked both worked at PTC and at Divison Ltd and at Division Inc http://www.visualadvantage.co.uk/ see section: About Visual Advantage - Chris Davis "Chris worked for over 15 years in the real-time visualisation and digital mock-up markets for PTC, Division Ltd, and Primary Image" and Andy Hamilton "Formerly at PTC, Division Inc, and Inmos".
Divison made hardware and software - one example of their hardware is the dVisor which is compared with an Oculus rift DK1 in this article here https://medium.com/virtual-reality/virtual-reality-1993-and-2013-1f503273e24a see also Division Group plc: the world's first public virtual reality company [1] X-mass (talk) 14:15, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
- There are several companies with the same name, none of those sources link dVision to PTC. If what you're saying is worth mentioning, then there should be a source mentioning that PTC now owns the company that made dVision. If no sources can be provided, then it doesn't warrant a mention here. Maybe on the PTC article, but on this article it's completely superfluous. - Aoidh (talk) 14:40, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

List of Manufacturers or List of Products?
editThe list, while flagged, is actually useful I think for someone that is looking for a central place to discover all the VR products out there - a lot of these are 'notable' (I think) but at the same time little known, if that makes sense. However the list can't seem to decide if it is a list of manufacturers (it doesn't help to link to "Sony", for instance, if you want to learn more about their VR offering) or a list of VR products. I think the latter makes more sense for someone interested in learning about the various head-mounted VR devices. TotoroRules (talk) 00:27, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
