Wire tapping
edit@Rgr09: It appears that there was FBI and CIA involvement, however, it is not clear to me who actually planted the bugs. If you have time, would you mind taking a look the Tim Weiner and Greg Mitchell articles to see if my edits here need to be altered? Thanks! - Location (talk) 16:01, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Location: The Church Committee report has several pages which mention FBI wiretaps on Baldwin which were authorized by Robert Kennedy. I haven't had time to put all the references together yet. Mitchell's reference to Project Mockingbird does not seem apropos, but one should probably look at his book, not just the article to see what's what. Rgr09 (talk) 02:57, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Fee free to pile relevant references below, but I doubt I will write up much here. I have not read Mitchell's book, but I think the CJR article is discussing the surveillance of Baldwin as something that lead up to the formalization of Project Mockingbird. - Location (talk) 15:29, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
For future references, here are a collection of primary source documents at the JFK Library related to the CIA and FBI investigations of Baldwin's article in the July 26, 1962 issue of The New York Times: 1) CIA investigation 2) FBI investigation. - Location (talk) 15:29, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
For future reference, here is a link to The Presidential Recordings: John F. Kennedy, Volume One, 30 July 1962 – 31 August 1962, edited by Timothy Naftali. Various discussions related to Baldwin's NYT article. - Location (talk) 21:57, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
For future reference, here is a link to what appear to be the FBI files on Hanson Baldwin. - Location (talk) 22:30, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

editI apologize.. I accidentally hit "Publish" before writing an edit summary. This section was tagged as containing WP:PEACOCK writing that was totally unsourced.
I looked for corroboration and found none. All of the flagged content was added by the same IP user, who also appears to have added similar content to the Constance Cummings article at around the same time. The content may be original research. Accordingly I removed the content and the tag. Matuko (talk) 15:06, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

editI removed unsourced content alleging Baldwin to be the grandfather of a missing Tao, NM woman. I looked for corroboration unsuccessfully, perhaps original research, that resembles similar edits by an IP user on the Constance Cummings page. Matuko (talk) 15:50, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
