Paragraphing

edit

Very nice. Thanks for the contribution.

My only comment is that it seems a lot like a standalone essay. I think this is mostly because of the paragraph breaks: it feels like a lot of words for only 3 paragraphs, for a Wikipedia article.

I don't want to make it sound like I think you should butcher your article, but shorter paragraphs and a 2-3 sentence overview would make this seem a lot more approachable (to me, anyway) than immediately diving into 20 lines of solid text. And I don't want to turn people off, because it is well written.

It's not hard to find, but a link to http://www.hans-rott.de/ might be nice. (They even have clips of some performance of his works.) (Anybody have any other pages worth linking to?)

Well, you know, you could always make those changes yourself - you know where the "edit this page" link is, right? ;)
For now, I'll put in that external link you suggest and have a go at a brief intro before we get into the bio. Any other work on the article would be gratefully received, I'm sure. --Camembert
Well, I'm not really a writer. I just try to give good suggestions.  :-)
It looks great now. (That's a better intro than I probably would have written.)
The first draft of this article was one of my earliest contributions to Wikipedia, when I didn't quite know Wikipedia's conventions. So I appreciate others taking the time to copy-edit this article according to the conventions of Wikipedia. Del arte 00:11, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

This photo was deleted from Wikimedia Commons (correctly, in my view), but there would seem to be a prima facie case for Fair Use as the only known photograph of the deceased subject of a biography. I do not have access to the source. Davidships (talk) 15:36, 4 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

References to Brahms's first symphony

edit

I wanted to add a citation for the above:

 http://kennethwoods.net/blog1/2010/02/12/performers-perspective-mahler-3-a-lost-friend/

but noticed that the editor who added the "citation needed" also added a comment:

" And if all that is meant here is the fleeting similarity to a few notes from the tune of Brahms's finale, then the observation is *garbage* "

The cited page contains a link to a brief excerpt of Rott's symphony and the reference seems unmistakable to my uneducated ears. If the editor is around, could he please comment?
