Explanation of the HVC

The article writes a lot about the meaning of the name itself (HVC), but it does not really describe in great detail what the HVC really is about and why birds need it. That was disappointing for me to see because like 40% of the page right now tries to explain the name change, and not what it really does ... :\ 84.112.136.52 (talk) 15:27, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

renaming page to HVC

This page should be retitled to "HVC" not "High Vocal Center". As mentioned in the article itself, "High Vocal Center" is depreciated and "HVC" is the standardized name of this region. Neuromusic (talk) 21:47, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

High velocity clouds are more important to the creation of life, and galaxies than bird biology is to all life on Earth. To the bird brain, it may not be an acronym, but to most readers, and in most of its applications, HVC is a TLA. Dicklyon (talk) 04:11, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

• Comment by nominator: I've offered 3 pieces of evidence that the avian brain region HVC meets the criterion for both usage and long term significance. The closest contender needing disambiguation is "High Velocity Cloud" which doesn't even have its own namespace, as it redirects to Interstellar cloud. I might be happy acquiescing the HVC namespace to the disambiguation page and making this HVC (avian brain region) if someone can offer any counter-evidence, but there hasn't been any thus far.
