Explanation of the HVC

edit

The article writes a lot about the meaning of the name itself (HVC), but it does not really describe in great detail what the HVC really is about and why birds need it. That was disappointing for me to see because like 40% of the page right now tries to explain the name change, and not what it really does ... :\ 84.112.136.52 (talk) 15:27, 10 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

renaming page to HVC

edit

This page should be retitled to "HVC" not "High Vocal Center". As mentioned in the article itself, "High Vocal Center" is depreciated and "HVC" is the standardized name of this region. Neuromusic (talk) 21:47, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

– "High vocal center" is a depreciate title for this avian brain region, as per the revised nomenclature cited in the article Neuromusic (talk) 16:51, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

High velocity clouds are more important to the creation of life, and galaxies than bird biology is to all life on Earth. Without understanding of stellar formation processes and how HVCs fuel galactic growth, there would be no planets for birds to form on. -- 70.50.151.36 (talk) 03:39, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm an auditory guy, too, but that's just nuts. It only gets about 10 page views per day. For an acronym to have a primary it should be more well known, like FBI or MIT or IBM. Dicklyon (talk) 23:05, 6 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
yes, the pageviews are low, but they are comparable to the pageviews for the disambiguation page itself Neuromusic (talk) 17:32, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
To the bird brain, it may not be an acronym, but to most readers, and in most of its applications, HVC is a TLA. Dicklyon (talk) 04:11, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
