Why was Shropshire transferred to the RAN rather than another cruiser?

What happened to her RN crew? GraemeLeggett 09:44, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

HMS Shropshire

edit

The article in the first paragraph says that this ship was the only ship named after Shropshire in the UK.

There is no present article regarding the World War One Troopship following:

The HMAT A9 Shropshire weighed 8,130 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Federal SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 5 August 1917.

Would it not also have been named after Shropshire?

A claim like that usually refers to warships. The article will be modified accordingly. -- saberwyn 22:14, 17 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
