Why 1862?

Why is this ship dated to 1862? The standard for Wikipedia seems to be the year in which the ship is launched, which would be 1863 in this case. Furthermore, the year 1862 is actually not mentioned at all in the entire article. She was laid down in 1860, converted in 1861, launched in 1863, and commissioned and completed in 1866.
