Content for Article Improvements

edit

Hello: I am an employee of Grove Collaborative and therefore have a COI relationship with this article. Below I have listed a few recent items that have recently been covered in the press that I think may improve the article. The content includes formatted sources. If someone were to find these updates a good use of their time to review, I’d greatly appreciate it. My goal is to always adhere to the Wikipedia rules and criteria. Thank you Khgrove22 (talk) 22:15, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

In July 2022, retailers Kohl’s, Meijer and Giant Eagle began carrying products from Grove Co.’s cleaning line. This brick-and-mortar retail partnership includes educational end cap displays to educate customers on reducing plastic waste.[1]

Grove Collaborative officially went public June 17, 2022, on the New York Stock Exchange via its SPAC merger with Richard Branson’s Virgin Group Acquisition Corp.[2][3]

2022 Q1 revenue declined by 11% compared to Q1 2021.[3]

The company laid off 17% of its workforce not long after the Virgin SPAC merger to cut operating costs.[3]

Grove Collaborative was chosen by Fast Company as one of their top innovative companies for 2022.[2]

In April of 2022, actress and entrepreneur Drew Barrymore became an investor in Grove Collaborative.[4] She is the company’s first global brand and sustainability advocate. Barrymore will also work with the product development team to help the company achieve its goal of being plastic-free by 2025.[5]

In February, former Burts Bees executive John Replogle was appointed chairman of Grove Collaborative’s board of directors.[3]

In early 2022, Grove Collaborative named Sergio Cervantes as its new CFO. Cervantes spent 18 years with Unilever and four years with Gillette.[5]

In 2021, Grove Collaborative hired former Amazon executive Jennie Perry to serve as its chief marketing officer.[6] Khgrove22 (talk) 22:15, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

A few updates to the article

edit

Hello:

I would like to propose a few additions/corrections to the Grove Collaborative article that I believe would improve it overall. All new content is in bold font. I appreciate the time and attention of those reviewing these recommendations. Best, RJZGroveCo (talk) 21:17, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • The first is the second sentence of the lead. I’ve added in bold here the words I propose to add.

Grove Collaborative makes and sells its own environmentally friendly home and personal care products under its Grove Co. brand, as well as those of third-party companies.

  • The company was co-founded by three people. As the article is now, it only states Stuart Landesberg. I’m wondering if we could add the other two to the first sentence under the history section?

The company was founded in 2012 by CEO Stuart Landesberg, Chris Clark, and Jordan Savage under the name ePantry.[1]

  • Leadership changes.

In August 2023, Jeff Yurcisin became the new Chief Executive Officer of Grove Collaborative. Stu Landesberg transitioned from CEO to Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors.[2] RJZGroveCo (talk) 21:17, 6 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Additional Corrections and Update Edits

edit

Hello: I have a few updates and corrections for the Grove Collaborative Wikipedia article. I have a COI with Grove Collaborative and am unable to make the edits myself. All three edit requests include formatted sources. Content for the edits are bolded below. They are regarding: John Replogle; correcting office locations; and correcting the year the company pledged to go plastic free which was 2020, not 2021. Thank you for considering these edit requests. Best, RJZGroveCo (talk) 19:37, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

After the sentence about Replogle can we add In August of 2023, Replogle transitioned to Lead Independent Director of the Board.[1]

The sentence about Grove offices is incorrect. We only have offices in San Francisco and Portland, Maine. We had an office briefly in Durham. I don’t have any press coverage saying we no longer have offices in NC. Could that sentence be changed to: Grove is headquartered in San Francisco with a second location in Portland, ME.[2]

The sentence about when the company pledged to go plastic free should say In 2020, [3] RJZGroveCo (talk) 19:37, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Grove Collaborative NYSE Question

edit

Grove Collaborative is a publicly traded company and I am wondering if that should be reflected in the infobox section of the article? Below is a link to the information needed for that addition. Thank you and best, RJZGroveCo (talk) 20:25, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 05:31, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response User:AlphaBetaGamma. I was looking at other publicly traded companies and noticed that the infoboxes include categories for: Company Type, Traded as, and financial information like revenue, operating income, net income, total assets, and total equity. I would like to request that Grove Collaborative’s infobox be updated to include Company type (Public) and Traded as (GROV). I think it would also improve the article to add the financial information mentioned above. We have our financial report for the first quarter of 2024. Can that be used as a source for this information? Thank you and best, RJZGroveCo (talk) 19:20, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@RJZGroveCo can you link the source? Company type and ticker seems to be a noncontroversial WP:ABOUTSELF. Rusalkii (talk) 00:41, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

A few more article updates

edit

Hello:

Below are a few updates for the Wikipedia article about Grove Collaborative that I think will improve the page. The content to be considered as an addition is highlighted with bold text. Thank you, RJZGroveCo (talk) 16:36, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

The second sentence of the history section needs to be corrected. It should say rebranded as Grove Collaborative. The citation provided for this section will work for this change.

At the end of the first paragraph in the history section, add The company became a certified B Corporation in 2014.[1]

Please add this sentence to the end of the last paragraph of the article. The Retail Dive source already in the article will cover this edit. Volition Capital founding partner Larry Cheng was also added to the Board of Directors following an investment of $10M in Grove Collaborative.

In March 2020, Grove Collaborative launched Beyond Plastic™, its program to reduce single-use plastic in everyday consumer products sold on their site.[2][3]

Between 2020 and 2023, Grove Collaborative collected over 15M lbs of single-use, ocean-bound plastic. [4] Through its partnership with rePurpose Global, the company also collects an ounce of plastic for every ounce shipped to its customers to further offset the company’s plastic footprint.[4] RJZGroveCo (talk) 16:36, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: as below. For the "certified B corporation" sentence, I'd like to see an independent source to confirm that this is WP:DUEWEIGHT. Rusalkii (talk) 18:09, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello User:Rusalkii. I appreciate your time and feedback. As requested, here is an independent source that mentions the B Corp year, in addition to the official B Corp site link in my original request. Thank you, RJZGroveCo (talk) 20:04, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I appreciate you reopening this for another editor to review, User:Rusalkii. Is there anything further I can or should do to get a response to the additional source I added to support the B Corp sentence? As always, I appreciate and respect your time. [Took a wikibreak, responding to old messages now] Unfortunately the COI edit request backlog is long and there are few people working on it. There's not a lot you can do beyond making sure your request is clear, neutral, and well-sourced. Rusalkii (talk) 00:30, 9 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Recent Grove News

edit

Hello. There is some recent press coverage of Grove Collaborative regarding sustainability that could improve the Wikipedia article. I have included the content and formatted sources below. Thank you. RJZGroveCo (talk) 20:26, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

On July 1, 2024, Grove Collaborative launched the Beyond Plastic™ Impact Tracking tool on its website. The tool shows both the amount of plastic avoided and recovered with each customer’s purchase.[1]

The company’s Beyond Plastic™ digital badge system lets consumers know how much plastic is in its products.[2]

Grove announced in July 2024 that it would not be plastic free by the end of 2025.[1] The company cited challenges due to limited number of companies moving beyond plastic and low consumer awareness of sustainable products available today.[2]

The company’s new goal is to avoid 15 million pounds of single-use plastic from being purchased and entering the environment by 2030.[2] Grove has reported that 63% of its Grove Co. brand products, and 33% of the more than 3,000 products it sells, are at least 95% plastic-free.[2] Since 2020, Grove has avoided 7.8 million pounds of plastic and recovered over 16 million pounds.[2] RJZGroveCo (talk) 20:26, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: this is way too much emphasis to put on this. There's two sentence about the plastic stuff in the article and that's already probably too much. Rusalkii (talk) 18:07, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello User:Rusalkii: Thank you so much for your response to my COI requests from July 18.
In response to your comment about too much plastic content, I wanted to ask, first, about these three sentences, which are an update to the previous statement currently in the article about the company’s pledge to be plastic-free by 2025 (“In 2020, Grove Collaborative pledged to be plastic-free by 2025.”). It seems like the article would be more transparent and accurate with the addition of these sentences:
“Grove announced in July 2024 that it would not be plastic free by the end of 2025. The company cited challenges due to the limited number of companies moving beyond plastic and low consumer awareness of sustainable products available today. The company’s new goal is to avoid 15 million pounds of single-use plastic from being purchased and entering the environment by 2030.”
Secondly, the company’s mission and sustainability strategy is centered around eliminating plastic waste from the environment. Sustainability through the elimination of plastics is the foundation of why the company operates the way it does. I’m wondering with that information, if these sentences can also be included?
“On July 1, 2024, Grove Collaborative launched the Beyond Plastic™ Impact Tracking tool on its website. The tool shows both the amount of plastic avoided and recovered with each customer’s purchase. The company’s Beyond Plastic™ digital badge system lets consumers know how much plastic is in its products.”
I appreciate your review, feedback and consideration of my questions. Best, RJZGroveCo (talk) 21:06, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am reopening this edit request for another editor to take a look. Rusalkii (talk) 22:02, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Rusalkii's previous comments on this point. To be honest, it would be better to remove the plastic material altogether than to allow the company to expand it. This is an encyclopaedia, not a platform for companies to trumpet their corporate social responsibility positions. Axad12 (talk) 06:01, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
