German Article

edit

This is an interesting site, but sadly lacking in info in the English speaking world. The German Wikipedia article seems to have some good info - is there anyone who speaks good enough German to start translating? Psychostevouk (talk) 08:27, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

My German is good enough for sure. The better question is, if my English is too: First of all the German Wiki dates the monument from 1200 to 600 BC, which means it could be built and used 200 years later than mentioned by the English version (so first centuries of iron age). It is explained why it can´t be a fortress: Not situated that way in the land scape; Ditch behind the wall, not in front. German text also sais that the post in the middle of the monument could have been some kind of sun dial. It is also told about a field with burial mounds right near to the Goloring and that this may be a further indication of an religious aspect of the Goloring. These mounds are from the 6th century BC, if I remember right. I visited the site in 2005, after having read about it in some book.
There is more text which exceeds the English version, but this is mostly side information related to actual situation of the site. However, in German version the photos amd especially the subtitles there are much better. 2003:DD:5711:7E0:2439:29BF:A8B9:5EF7 (talk) 18:27, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
