Disagreements between this article and "Glee Live! In Concert!" article
editThe "Glee Live! In Concert!" article has a great deal more information than this one, and a fair amount of it conflicts with what's listed here. The lack of citations on this page is worrying, given how much information was wrong: listing Telly Leung and Eddy Martin as Warblers in the movie when they weren't on the tour, for example, and the including of "Friday" when it had been dropped from the tour prior to the two East Rutherford shows where the movie was filmed.
I do recall finding a blog that did a blow-by-blow of one of the East Rutherford shows, including the appearances of Lynch and Paltrow, which I'm sure could be found with a Google search; I don't know whether it would be considered a sufficiently authoritative source, since it wasn't a news or professional website, but it would be a signpost as to who sings what. "Don't Stop Believin'" is listed on the Live in Concert page as a group number, not just the original six (i.e., probably the "Journey to Regionals" version); there are differences between the soloists listed here and there, etc. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed that the whole article is badly in need of better referencing. If the blog entry was by a professional music reviewer, we might be able to use it, otherwise I think we should be excising everything that can't be credibly sourced for now. Perhaps we should even remove the set list altogether, until a source confirms which numbers will be in the movie, and performed by who. (Eg. we might have a perfectly reliable source at Glee Live! saying W, X and Y actors had solos in a performance in Z location, but that doesn't verify that they will be edited that way in the movie.) I also don't think we can make assumptions based on the soundtrack - for instance, as Glee The Music.com calls "Dog Days" a bonus track, does that suggest it's not included in the movie? Any cast members that can't be sourced should definitely be removed too. Frickative 14:52, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- The set list is problematical; as you note, they could recut the movie so the songs aren't in live performance order, though I imagine there will be howls of rage if they do reorder it. I think any descriptions of who sings lead on what from the Live page almost certainly applies to the movie. The preview video does show the Warblers I listed plus a fifth who was mentioned in the tweets of the other four when on tour; the first thing after the 20th Century Fox logo (about 8 seconds in) are the Warblers in street clothes: Criss at front left, and behind him, left to right, are Jaymz Tuaileva (said fifth), Curt Mega, Jon Hall, Titus Makin, and Riker Lynch. The preview shows Jane Lynch on stage, and the CD has a track where Paltrow is soloing, so I'd say they were both accounted for. As for the bonus track, who knows? My first guess was that it was a marketing gimmick; it seems rather ludicrous to call it a "bonus track", especially the second one in the list of tracks, when the song was part of the tour; were they going to leave it out? The infobox worried me; we don't know what the movie credits will be in terms of starring, co-starring, also starring, etc., so it seemed premature to list that information as well. You have a better handle on what ought to remain than I do; I'll leave any cutting to you, until better info is available. (Only nine days until the preview!) - Ahh, I hadn't actually watched the preview video until just now, so that's very handy. By coincidence, I came across this while updating the awards list about 30 minutes ago, so that's a solid inline cite for Paltrow, too. Good point about the infobox - I'll dig around for sources and see if any go into credit specifics. I'm reluctant to take anything out until I've done more searching, because I haven't kept up-to-date with the coverage of the 2011 tour leg, so I'm not too familiar with what's available. I'll try and get acquainted with it tomorrow, though. (I was a bit hesitant about diving into this one, because music and film aren't areas I have much editing experience in, but when amending one of the categories earlier I found U2 3D, which is a very handy FA-level model to follow.) Performance Placement
editI noticed that Lauren/Ashley and Sam/Chord were in the opening number "Don't Stop Believing" and Blaine/Darren was in "Loser Like Me". Of course, on the show, Lauren and Sam were not part of New Directions until after both performances of DSB, while Blaine was only in attendance for the show's performance of LLM. Is this notable for Trivia?--Harmony944 (talk) 19:58, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
- The rule of thumb for trivia is if notable second-party sources have pointed out that trivia. Otherwise, while your observations are interesting, they can be considered original research. BOVINEBOY2008 20:41, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
- My thought would be that there's inevitably going to be differences between show and concert: none of the folks mentioned would have been in "Empire State of Mind" on the show though they were in the concert, and Kurt also wouldn't have been in "Loser Like Me", since he sang with Blaine and the Warblers at Regionals: in New Directions group numbers for the concert, you go with the New Directions you have now, not the one you used to have. No Dijon Talton this year to perform in any season one songs. (For that matter, Kurt doesn't perform in the two Warblers songs that he performed on the show: "Silly Love Songs" and "Raise Your Glass".) I've seen a clip of Kurt inviting Blaine to join New Directions; perhaps that's the show's rationale for him to appear in some of the numbers at the end of the concert? Cast
editShould Gwyneth Paltrow's name be mentioned in the starring section? She sang Cee Lo's Forget You in the movie. Also, I think she should be mentioned in the cast subsection. 07 Matthew (talk) 15:35, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Synopsis
editShould the stories of the three people in the movie be mentioned? There was this short girl who was in the cheerio and was then crowned prom princess. Another person was a gay guy. And the last one was this this red-haired girl. 07 Matthew (talk) 15:35, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
