Documentary

edit

Out of curiosity, is the special aired on the Travel Channel at the end of the first season at all different in content from the special aired before the first season over on the Scifi Channel?--JINZONINGEN 73 (talk) 07:08, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Though I have not seen the Sci Fi Channel's version, I think the only difference is Zak's address at the very beginning and end of the doc film. It re-aired as a pilot on the same day as and just before the season premiere on the Travel Channel. --66.74.131.74 (talk) 22:54, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possible Bias?

edit

The quotations around certain words in the Format section, such as "dark history" and "paranormal experts", seem a bit snide, and the use feels more mocking than emphasized. It gives the article a biased feel, like it was written by a skeptic.-Minako-chan27 (talk) 20:45, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the feedback. I and someone else did it to quote terms and phrases said on the show, but I believe it is unbiased. I believe that ghosts exist myself, but try to remain neutral. Feel free to revise. --Twinsday 08:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Future Member

edit

I reverted the good-faith edit per WP:FUTURE. The copy-edited info is provided below for reference. --Twinsday 07:47, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

An unknown fourth permanent cast member was hinted about during the first hour of the March 7, 2010 broadcast of the paranormal radio show Darkness Radio.[1] Co-host Dave Schrader mentioned only that the new member "will have a very specific job on that show." The new member will be revealed at the Darkness Radio/Ghost Adventures Crew live event at the Mansfield Reformatory on September 9–12, 2010.[2]

When does season 4 start on the travel channel? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.0.193.131 (talk) 01:47, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't know—none of the official sites has yet announced the official date other than 2010; however, I expect summer—like last year. Please be sure to sign with 4 tildes (~~~~) --Twinsday 03:26, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Awards and Accolades

edit

Wouldn't it be better if the awards won by the film and the tv series are put under one subsection instead of putting it at the introduction? Syfuel (talk) 15:16, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Good Question. It's okay to put it at the lead, but then you have to put that piece of information somewhere at the body of the article. You could make a subsection by "copying" the awards to there. Good luck! TheAustinMan (talk) 21:58, 28 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Split request

edit

Due to the article's length and upcoming editing traffic, should the episodes section be split to List of Ghost Adventures episodes? I'll split it myself, if that's okay with y'all. serioushat 06:03, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree that it should be split due to the amount of specials and episodes, and considering season 4 is about to begin, it will just continue to length the page. F!ERCE (talk) 03:48, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Disputed Authenticity (Revisited)

edit

19/10/2015 the source that claims one of the hosts threw the EMF is just a YouTube video, that's not a reliable source. This should be properly sourced or deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.183.130.82 (talk) 13:45, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm not saying that it IS fake, but you can't deny that its authenticity has been widely questioned and debated, so since its a widely discussed subject I think it should be included. Maybe as criticism? I'm going to go ahead and edit a section about it in there, edit or remove it if you wish. ItsWolfeh (talk) 01:40, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understand your intention, and I'm a big fan of it from Malaysia, and I am in no way against you, but if you really wish to put that section here, you need to provide with a better link(s), as one of them is a link to a forum. I want to remove that section, but I think that section should be given a chance to stay. I really need to absorb the "Be Bold" phrase. =_=" SyFuelIgniteBurned 05:19, 20 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I do agree with you, but there unfortunately aren't very reliable sources discussing it being fake, but it is still common knowledge that there are people out there who are going to believe its fake, so I don't know, does it really need a reference? I'll look around. I've seen a template before about information needing more reliable sources, perhaps we should add that to the section. I don't think a citation would really be appropriate for it since there is a refresher its just not the best. By the way, someone removed the section, why? Mind if I put it back on? Maybe its best not to, it does seem a bit iffy to me. But we still need to mention skepticism here. I see some places that could be replaced with "claims" or "it could have been the work of a demonic entity" instead of an absolute "was". Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view ItsWolfeh (talk) 01:10, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think the article does a "just-adequate" job of trying to present the extraordinary claims of this TV show (hauntings, demons, etc.) as claims rather than as facts. If anything, it may rely a bit too much on material sourced to the show and its producers rather than independent third parties such as TV reviewers, entertainment commentators, etc. Including critical reviews of the show in the article is advisable and required by WP:NPOV. Critique from sources such as this might be a good start. - LuckyLouie (talk) 03:14, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think this whole show and Zak is fake. They show no evidence and amazingly their "incidents" happen when the cameras are off. 2600:8807:C30F:AF00:5D6E:67D7:12FA:A17B (talk) 23:03, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Disputed Authenticity V 3.0

edit

For future information, "paranormal expert" should be avoided because that is not an academically recognized field, so even if you know a lot about the claims of believers, you don't have any credentials. Moving on to something more important, why are the claims of fraud stated factually, but without citations? All of these shows get accused of fraud, just like they all are claimed to have incredible evidence, hence these claims should only be elaborated on if the case is unusually strong. The way the page is now just confuses the reader about how certain the accusations of falsifying evidence are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.206.20.58 (talk) 10:27, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

please cleanup lists

edit

The lists of paranormal guests are not necessary, it looks too much like a directory of ghost hunters, might as well put a list of locations visited, their phone numbers, and other cruft. The celebrity guests can be summarized in a single paragraph, and be covered in detail by the episode summaries. Please trim down the "recurring" cast to those that have credited roles. And since there is crew, you can list them.

Also the introductory quote, if highly memorable or notable (like with Dragnet), should be in the summary, and not the cast member's profile. If the cast members have particular catchphrases and mannerisms for the show you can keep those in the profiles.

I know two of the main characters were merged back to this article, but their bios can be condensed to a paragraph or two, please see List of MythBusters cast members as an example. Consider spinning off Zak to his own article as he has produced a second show.

I've removed copyediting request for now. Once it's been reorganized, please submit again. AngusWOOF (talk) 19:59, 16 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Heading levels

edit

I've cleaned up a few of the heading levels including Zak's "Early Life" section, which was a second level heading despite it belonging further below. In the process of fixing the cast's heading levels, I removed the "Main Cast" heading, since it seemed redundant as there's only 3 Main cast and then a huge list of guests, so I've instead left "Guests" under their own heading and the main cast as their own level 3 headings under "Cast and crew". Hopefully this helps the flow of the article a little better --176.248.33.125 (talk) 20:00, 9 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mark and Debby Constantino's murder-suicide

edit

I removed all mention of the incident, as it is not related to the show, except for their scant appearances on it. Had it occurred during filming or one of the three leads were involved, then it would bear mentioning here. While some people speculate that their paranormal investigating affected Mark's actions, that cannot be satisfactorily substantiated. If anyone feels strongly about them, feel free to create notable articles that discuss more than how they died. This is not the place. — Wyliepedia 03:29, 27 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Completely disagree. The Constantinos had appeared on the show several times since its inception, and whether or not you feel that this is "the place" or not, this event is relevant to the article. Ghost Adventures is mentioned in literally every single article regarding their deaths. Wiping virtually any mention of them from this page borders on revisionist history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.65.99.163 (talk) 02:56, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Deadly Possessions renamed?

Spin-Offs Section cleanup

edit

I found this page by looking at a category page, and realized one of the spin-offs wasn't included in that section. While I added that, I did a bit of cleanup, because there was an end-date shoved in with improper formatting and an unnecessarily detailed and romanticized synopsis of Deadly Possessions. And Aftershocks didn't even have a synopsis.

I used paired-down text from the headers on the shows' main articles, to create/update their synopsis.

And I realize it's a bit redundant to say that a spin-off of Ghost Hunters is also a "paranormal reality show," when the entire franchise is based in that theme. But saying that Paranormal Challenge is a "competitive TV series" seemed to be misleading, without including the "paranormal reality" bit in it. And given that "competitive" is a fairly unique descriptor for both the franchise and the genre, it seemed noteworthy to mention that it's a competitive show.
