Liking this guy

edit

Know what? I like this guy. He has lessons for us today. For "Ireland," read "China," and for "books," read "DVD's," and there is something familiar here. Supposing, in a wild west market, a retailer/producer wants to go legitimate. To compete with the locals, he's going to have to do some piracy, even as he tries to do as little as possible. The famous authorized folks will know the name and pick on him, so he's going to get kicked in the shins by everyone in the room. It's an interesting case, and one that gets repeated over and over again, but it also says, significantly, that, in the end, he won by being legitimate. Compare the London pirates, like Edmund Curll, who thrived and didn't pay any attention to the protests of the authorized printers. Geogre (talk) 11:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
