Freezer centre
editIs the expression "freezer centre" or "freezer center" used much outside the United Kingdom? I created an article for this, as it *is* quite a widely-used expression, but if there is already an article that covers this material specifically, perhaps it should be merged.
Or perhaps "freezer centre" should be a section in this article? What do you think?

- Never heard of freezer centre before; do such stores exist outside the UK? (We don't have dedicated frozen food stores in AU, that I'm aware of anyway!)Natebailey
- That's what I was asking. Note that "Freezer Centres" in that sense do exist (see this Google search), I just don't know if the expression is common elsewhere. It's notable that almost all the relevant links refer to shops within the UK. Fourohfour 21:00, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Frozen Food lifetimes
editI had hoped to find out how long foods can be kept frozen at the temps of my 2 freezers, -22C and -15C. I hope someone with the knowledge can help. dontremember 21:00, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Me too! I found Meat quality and safety, How Long will Frozen Meat Stay Fresh?, Recommended times for refrigerator and freezer food storage and Food Storage and Shelf Life. The later two are more general and seem reasonably detailed. I'm going to add the Clemson one as a reference, but I welcome anyone's efforts to synopsise this content into the article! - Health inspectors in BC require that freezers in food facilities maintain -18°C or lower; -15°C will not do. As to shelf life, it depends on the type of foodstuff, its condition before freezing, the packaging, and -18°C being maintained all through shipping and storage. More important is to date and rotate, rotate, rotate your stock, so that the question does not arise, "does this smell funny to you"? Dead storage is deadly. Merge
editWondering about merging Freezer and Frozen food. Seams strange to have a frozen food category. There are not any Refrigerated Food articel, so I think Freezer is the best name. Any ideas? Reply to Talk:Freezer - Kristod (talk) 22:55, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose merge; a freezer is the device, frozen food is a category of food. Whilst it would be possible to write a decent combined article, I think they're better served by being kept separate. Fourohfour 23:12, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Comment; there is a proposal to merge freezer and refrigerator at Refrigerator talk. Having two merge discussions at the same time may be problematic. Fourohfour 23:12, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thinking about it I agree about not doing a merge. But much of the article is about freezing technology, and not about frozen food. Maybe move parts (quick-freezing and process) of the article to freezer (the technological aspect)? The article doesn't really look into foods, mostly its process and technology (i.e. Freezers). -Kristod (talk) 10:20, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Another Merge Instead of merging Freezer with Frozen Food, I think the articles Frozen Food and Frozen Vegetables should be merged. MAH! (talk) 17:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Nutritional impact of frozen food
editIs there any consequences on the nutrinional value?
- Another point that would be worth exploring in the article - here's a reference to use! Natebailey 08:14, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
IQF freezing
editNeed discussion/article on IQF freezing (I think it's a patented process of "individual quick freezing"). Badagnani (talk) 02:30, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
