Reliable source: own faculty page?

edit

Not sure this can be considered a reliable source. Pretty much the entire article's contents are sourced to it. Any comments? GenQuest "Talk to Me" 22:35, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

GoogleScholar and ResearchGate sources were provided as additional resources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.27.210.54 (talk) 03:14, 19 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

The references to the faculty page are actually links to specific references. These specific references need to replace the faculty page reference.

Improving the Wiki page

edit

I’m joining in on the talk page to discuss the unfavorable notice posted on Fred Glover’s Wiki page and to seek your advice on what steps I need to take to help get the unfavorable notice removed. Fred Glover is clearly one of the leading figures in all of operations research with over 400 articles and many thousand citations. He has won many international awards including the Von Neuman award, the top honor given out in operations research. Fred’s body of work has significantly shaped the field of optimization and to have the unfavorable notices persist on his Wiki page is completely out of line with the widely accepted and recognized importance of his work. Please advise me how this can be remedied. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gkochenberger (talkcontribs) 19:08, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Some of the template issues were out of date and no longer applicable and I removed them. However, I notice that many of the references used are links to Fred's home page -- they should be to the actual references (this is the same comment that another poster had on 13 Feb 2016). A "Recognitions" heading needs to be created and the various prizes and awards listed in the section on the right should be contextualized in chronological order.Mark W Lewis (talk) 15:24, 2 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Several changes need to be made on my page

edit

  • What I think should be changed:

Could you check to see if my meta-analytics photo can be inserted into the wikipedia page, like the photo on http://meta-analytics.net/index.php/team-2/

Also, the following segment under "Work" needs to be changed:

He also serves as the Chief Technology Officer in charge of algorithm design and strategic planning initiatives for OptTek Systems, Inc., a provider of optimization software to the simulation industry. He has authored or co-authored more than 450 published articles and eight books in the fields of mathematical optimization, computer science and artificial intelligence.[7]

The changed version can read:

He also serves as the CEO in charge of algorithm design and strategic planning initiatives for Meta-Analytics, Inc., a provider of optimization software for applications in quantum-inspired computing. He has authored or co-authored more than 500 published articles and eight books in the fields of mathematical optimization, computer science and artificial intelligence[7] and he co-founded and previously served as Chief Technology Officer of OptTek Systems, Inc., a provider of optimization software to the simulation industry.[8]

If you could work in a footnote after "Meta-Analytics, Inc," that links to my MA webpage(http://meta-analytics.net/), that would be great. (It would be footnote [7] and the current footnote [7] would become footnote [8].)

  • Why it should be changed: A photo is needed on the page and the current position has been changed.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

References

Sorry to say, but   Not done. There is no evidence that the photo in question is suitably licensed, and the text appears to be partially copied form the subject's website. We also do not insert external links as references. For us to be able to include the photo, we need evidence of compatible licensing; Whenever possible, material should also be supported by sources independent of the subject – since the article already has major problems with closely associated sources, I think it is a bad idea to add more self-published ones at this point. Thank you for complying with our COI policy and best, Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 16:48, 8 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
