See d:Q18909619, d:Q10923163, and d:Q18849589. It appears to me as if the first two wikidata items are probably the same and should be merged. But which if any of the three should be linked to this article? Evvekk (talk) 02:46, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am not familiar with Wikidata or items thereof, although I would be interested to learn. I clicked on the links above, but I am not really sure what I am looking at in terms of protocol, fields, data, or so on. However, d:Q10923163 is a certain bet (based on linked articles to the same Chinese name, 商山四皓, which translates to "Four Whiteheads of Mount Shang"). The other two look intriguing, but I don't know yet why they are showing up Dcattell (talk) 03:01, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
In short, wikidata is an AI or machine readable database with information about wikipedia articles, and other wiki projects. See how Douglas Adam's entry has fields like "instance of: Human", and links to all of the various languages and wikiprojects. Wikidata is the "glue" that binds all of the differnt wikis and projects together.
For this wikipedia article, I'm wondering if the article is about a group of people, or specifically a poem. If it's about a poem, it should be linked to d:Q18909619. Note how the "instance of" field has a value of "poem" and has a zh language label of 商山四皓. Evvekk (talk) 03:30, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, for the information/data. d:Q18909619 seems to be a link to Tang dynasty poet Li Bai. I'm not immediately seeing which of his poems is being picked up here: however, he is well known for his references to the past. Really, at this point, the article is about a historical group of people of the Han dynasty. And, later they became subjects for Chinese cultural expression. Poets and painters both painted and wrote poems alluding to these four people for over a thousand years! I'm not sure that you have an easy job here. I'm not sure how the "glue" stuff works, but d:Q10923163 was the one that did the most for me: I added a couple of images to the article from the zh wiki links from there, so thanks! I would like to pursue the other two links, but I am going to have to do that later. Dcattell (talk) 03:59, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
