Orphaned references in Fifth Test, 1948 Ashes series
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Fifth Test, 1948 Ashes series's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 01:22, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Lindwall photo
editOff-topic: Does this photo indicate the umpire adjudicating the "back-foot" no-ball rule? If so it would seem to repudiate the argument, used by opponents of the "front-foot" rule, that the umpire has to raise his eyes too much between the ball's delivery and its arrival at the batsman. This umpire is practically staring at the ground at his feet.--Perry Middlemiss (talk) 02:56, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think so, maybe the umpire shoudlve stood back further like most of them nowadays. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 03:01, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
References section
editI notice that the books in the References section mostly have the words of their titles given non-capitalised. I would expect that, when the books were published, their titles as given on the spine and titlee page would have had the words (excepting those like "of" and "the") beginning with a capital letter, and that this would be reflected when the books are listed in bibliographies and at sites such as Amazon. Surely the titles as given in the article should be in accordance with this? Accuracy of reporting surely should take precedence over Wikipedia style. JH (talk page) 09:08, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Too many citations
editI tried valiantly to wade through the description of the match, but the fact that there are almost more citations than words makes it simply impossible to follow. Could we not just give the summary of the match, then put a "further reading" citation at the end of the paragraph? Real encyclopaedia's don't cover their prose in so many references to make it effectively illegible. Py0alb (talk) 12:29, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
A few wording changes to the Main Page summary
editThis article will be Today's Featured Article on the Main Page on the 27th. I asked over at WT:WikiProject_Cricket#Wikipedia:Today.27s_featured_article.2FDecember_27.2C_2014 for some help with the language, and I'm making a few changes accordingly. Editors may or may not want to make similar changes to the article. - Dank (push to talk) 12:50, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
