Broken links
editThe change in subject of this article from a redirect to Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company has left behind a number of links that now reach an inappropriate article. These need to be fixed. It takes some work to track them down because this title has been added to a template that is splashed across every parish in the Milton Keynes area. Although the article should probably be approved, it can't really be with the current problems. Lithopsian (talk) 15:24, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- I accept that I ought to have checked rather than just assume that the redirect was intended to catch fat thumbs. "Fairfields" for "Fairfield" is not an obvious mistake to be in many articles. I guess there was a clue in the fact that it didn't redirect the Fairfield, a disambiguation article. In the short term, anyone misdirected will see the hat note first and go to the Fairfield article, where Fairfield Shipbuilding is listed. I will work through the "what links here" list to redirect any shipbuilding articles correctly. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:22, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
- I've created a redirect at Fairfields (engineering company) to help people looking for that company under its colloquial name. Still uncertain about other changes such as a new dab page, but the redirect may be more helpful in the hatnote than a link to a page about a load of things not called Fairfields. Or both. I have been through all the "what links here" and dabbed any that were going to "Fairfields" rather than Fairfield Shipbuilding. There weren't many. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 10:41, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
