edit8/20/2018. I am doing an edit of the background of the fishing vessel pelican. The following information is confirmed and correct by myself Capt. Joe Galluccio. I have the newspaper documentation and I also remember this boat when I was a young boy.I also have photos confirming the following in regards to this.
+
The pelican was built by Wheeler yachts Brooklyn New York in 1938 and purchased by Harry Pflug who lived in Belmar, New Jersey. The boat was named the Doris May and sailed out of the Belmar Marine basin as a party fishing boat under that name. Mr. Pflug hired a local Captain named Tom Sweetman from Belmar, N.J. to operate the boat for him.

In 1948 Mr.Pflug sold the boat to Capt.Jim Carvis from Staten island New York and the boat was renamed the bellboy. I am not sure of the exact date that the boat was sold, I believe it was sometime in 1950 that the boat was sold to Capt. Edward Carroll who moved the boat to Montauk, New York, and renamed the boat the Pelican.

If you would like the photos I have of the boat when it was the Doris May or a typed reprint along with a copy of newspaper article that Mr. Pflug gave to the Asbury Park Press on Sept. 4, 1951 about this boat please feel free to e mail me at joey000245@aol.com
