Match-fixing
editWhy is there no mention of the match-fixing scandal? http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2013/08/13/sp-uefa-champions-league-metalist-kharkiv.html, the rally to support their inclusion and everything else? Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:48, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sometimes it is better to wait to get a/the better picture on things (a.k.a. The Tortoise and the Hare), also while including information on recent developments is sometimes appropriate, breaking news should not be emphasized or otherwise treated differently from other information. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 14:10, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Origin of the name Metalist
editDoes anyone know why the word Metalist is used? Is it a reference to the area's metallurgy industry, perhaps? Trafford09 (talk) 09:27, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
(Information placed here for future reference:) Ex-president of FC Metalist Kharkiv plans to create a new football club in Kharkiv....
edit.... called "Avanhard Kharkiv" (the old name of Metalist Kharkiv) that will compete in the same stadium as Metalist Kharkiv. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:44, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
It seems to me that there are now 3 different football teams in Kharkiv whow use "Metalist" in their name:
- 1) the original professional club who now seems to be de-facto defunct but still owned by Serhiy Kurchenko
- 2) a team playing in the Kharkiv Regional League as "SK "Metallist" Kharkiv"
- 3) a team playing in the 2016–17 Ukrainian Football Amateur League as "FC Metalist 1925"
Hence there is no "revamped version". The original club is dead and 2 new teams are trying to take over its legacy. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:02, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- I rewrote this Wikipedia article to reflect it is about the 3th club here mentioned above ("FC Metalist 1925") since local news sources are clearly indicating that the other 2 identities/clubs (the club "SK "Metallist" Kharkiv" and the old "identity without a team" still owned by Serhiy Kurchenko) are going nowhere while "FC Metalist 1925" is heading for a comeback to the professional league's just like the successor of FC Metalurh Zaporizhya managed to achieve in the 2016–17 Ukrainian Second League. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:44, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Note, ФК "Металлист-1925" не является правопреемником клуба, купленного Курченко - основатели [1] So, rename this article back to FC Metalist Kharkiv please, and create new article FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv about the new "1925" club. 95.133.211.190 (talk) 11:06, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- Although personally I think your proposal is a good idea it seems to be against the Wikipedia:consensus on Wikipedia articles about Ukrainian football clubs. In 2013 I created a new article about the then new FC Obolon-Brovar Kyiv.... but now this article is merged with the Wikipedia article about the defunct club FC Obolon Kyiv (like this new 1925 Metalist Obolon-Brovary has no legal links with FCObolon-Brovary Obolon Kyiv). There is not much point in creating a new article if another Wikipedia users will undo this.... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 14:18, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- I just (changed my mind and) moved FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv back to FC Metalist Kharkiv because the article is still about the successful Metalist founded in 1925 and not about a club created this month (August 2016). I think it is nonsense to create new articles about the new clubs FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv and SK Metalist Kharkiv because these 2 clubs are for now not noticeable organisations per Wikipedia guideline Wikipedia:Notability. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:03, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

At Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Ukrainian bankrupt clubs magically brought back to life on Wikipedia I started a discussion about this (in my opinion unjustifiable) practice in Wikipedia of creating the illusion that new organisations magically took over the grandiose past of Ukrainian football clubs that don't exist anymore. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:50, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
- Full support to your proposition to split the different entities with the same name. 95.133.211.190 (talk) 20:14, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
