There is false information in the EXO-M member list. The member stated there; Ten Ten; does not exist therefore please delete 'Ten Ten' and ensure that there is 6 people in total in that table. According to their official fanpage, they clearly confirmed there is only 6 members in EXO-M which are Xiu Min, Lu Han, Kris, Lay, Chen and Tao. proof : https://www.facebook.com/notes/smtown/the-second-prologue-single-history-of-exo-k-and-exo-m-has-been-released/346822272027280 Thank you in advance!

For EXO-M and EXO-K's positions, please flip all the "leads" and "mains" around. The "lead" is usually the "better" one and basically the one who takes the lead. It is even said in MNet's new coverage of the group that Baekhyun is the LEAD vocal and D.O. is the MAIN vocal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbNo4ZwuJQQ at 2:52 says the two members' positions.

Please change "On April 7, 2012 EXO's title song, "MAMA" was released on various online music sites." to "On April 8, 2012 EXO's title song, "MAMA" was released on various online music sites." The MV and audio was released on 00:00 Korean Standard Time on April 8th. It was announced like that on SMTOWN's Facebook page (if you're picky about the source) and it indeed WAS released then. The MV was released on SMTOWN's Youtube page a few minutes later, which is April 8th in Korea. It may have been released on April 7th in some parts of the world, but it is definitely more accurate to go with Korea's time since they are the actual source of the song and music video.

Sourcing

Hey, I understand the sources and their usage for now, but I was wondering if there are any reliable Korean sources we can start using instead? Hopefully from publishers that have an editorial policy and/or named contributors? I'm wary about using allkpop (and sites like it) especially as it has a whole disclaimer page saying it's for gossip. Facebook (as it is used now) is fine (but it would be preferable if we found non-self published sources to cover this information too); I'm going to make some ref adjustments so they are cited as press releases though since that is essentially their format. ClayClayClay 07:04, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

The articles written by allkpop are basically translations of Korean sources, but I agree with you. I'll be looking for some of the original articles and change the refs. Darkreason (talk) 01:29, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

EXO (band)Exo (band) – Per the discussion above. The current all caps title of the article appears to be solely for stylization purposes. "Exo" does not appear to be an acronym, initialism or abbreviation of any kind, and I have yet to see a justification for all caps. — ξxplicit 01:33, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

"Positions"

I am very curious to how the members' "positions" came up. Is there a reliable source? Or is this all coming from the opinions of the fans? "Lead vocal" and "main vocal" pretty much have the same meaning, according to this article. Also, what does it mean to be a "main dancer" and a "lead dancer"? Darkreason (talk) 20:39, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Found a source of it for EXO-M from Sina.com (here) but what about EXO-K? Darkreason (talk) 06:10, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Guys, we need to come up with a consensus with these positions. We can't keep changing them. There is a source for EXO-M, but EXO-K still needs one. Also wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization. Read this MOS:CAP. Darkreason (talk) 20:39, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

I agree that some of the member positions are a little confusing. The positions we know for certain is that Kai is the Main Dancer, SuHo is the leader and that Baekhyun is the main vocalist - because during the showcase he introduced himself as such. I'm not sure about the 'lead' positions, such as lead vocalist and lead dancer, although I'm fairly certain that SeHun is the lead dancer because he is often in the dancing group alongside Kai. D.O. and SuHo should be lead vocalists. It's odd to have more than one lead vocalist in a small group (EXO-K) but I wouldn't say that SuHo is merely a vocalist. I have no idea who the lead rapper is, though. All I know is that Chanyeol is the main rapper.

For EXO-M I think it's a bit more clean cut. It's obvious that Chen is the main vocal and that Lu Han is the lead vocal. Lay is the main dancer, Kris is the leader. I'm not sure who the main rapper is (Kris or Tao) and I'm not sure who classifies as a lead dancer. (If I had to say it would definitely be Lu Han and possibly Xiu Min.) I agree that maybe we should wait for confirmation, but I think that we shouldn't remove the table. Just remove the group positions from the table.

However, we need to agree on group positions soon. Not having the group positions in the article is not good. Should the group positions be put up for discussion here or are we just going to wait for a reference that may never come?

Zeraiya (talk) 05:46, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for replying! I removed the table because it's redundant information. Now that each member has their own page, most of the basic trivia information (such as birth name, place of birth, hangul/hanja names) can be found in their own respective pages. So what's use of a table when all that is really needed for this article are just their names?
My main reason for removing the positions of the group is because the IPs have their own definitions of "main vocalist" and "lead vocalist." (Personally, I consider them to mean the same thing). And since wikipedia has an article on lead vocalist (but not main vocalist), I suggest to use just "lead vocalist" for D.O., Baekhyun, and Chen. "Sub-lead vocalist" (副主唱) for Lu Han (a direct translation from what Lu Han has said himself in the interview with Sohu I cited previously), and just "rapper" for Chanyeol, Kris, and Tao. I think it's best to keep these positions as simple and understandable as possible. Not everyone who reads these articles would be K-pop fans, so they wouldn't know the distinctions between "main vocal" and "lead vocal" (I still don't, because like what I said before, everyone has their own opinion on the definitions).
But yes. I agree with you. In a boy band, everyone has a chance of lending out their vocals in a song. Chanyeol is mainly a rapper, but even he sings sometimes ("History"). Lay sings, but even he raps ("Two Moons"). None of them have one designated position (especially for Sehun and Xiumin). For now, I think it's best to just leave their positions out of the way until we actually have a reliable source (which may never come, but better than having the IPs abusing the page over and over again). Darkreason (talk) 20:39, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Check out this EXO-K interview uploaded on youtube. According to the board, D.O. is introduced as a "main vocal" (Korean: 메인보컬), but not Baekhyun. Therefore, I suggest to use main vocalist and lead vocalist interchangeably. Since wikipedia has an article on lead vocalist instead of main vocalist, I suggest we use "lead vocalist" for all the leading singers of the group. Darkreason (talk) 21:42, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Tao : Rapper
  • Chen : Main vocal

  • D.O : Main vocal
  • Baekhyun : Main vocal
  • Sehun : Lead dancer
  • Kai : Main dancer

Capitalization

As far as I'm aware, "Exo" is not not an acronym for anything, and nothing in the article supports that it is, either. Wikipedia generally does not use all caps in article titles if it's simply for stylization purposes. As such, this article should be moved back to Exo (band), while mentioning in the lead that it is usually stylized as "EXO". Thoughts? — ξxplicit 01:45, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

As far as I know I have not seen any news articles mentioned the group as "Exo", so I don't think that "EXO" is for the stylization purposes.--ILuvSunshine (talk) 16:08, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
The same can be said about idol groups like Big Bang, F.T. Island, CN Blue and Infinite, among others. "Exo" doesn't appear to be an acronym, initialism or abbreviation of any kind, and Wikipedia titles are not written in all caps if they aren't, regardless of how they capitalized elsewhere. As such, I don't see any reason why this article should be treated any differently. — ξxplicit 23:19, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
I do see you point. The thing is I do see BIGBANG often refer as Big Bang, F.T.ISLAND as F.T. Island and CNBLUE as CNBlue etc.. in news articles and some official sites, so have no problem as the way they are in the wiki. And as for Infinite since I don't keep track of them so I'm not going to say anything. As I was saying I have not seen any news articles or official sites refer the group as "Exo". Also base on what you are saying, "CN Blue" should be change to "Cn Blue", "IU" to "Iu", "2PM" to "2pm" and "2AM" to "2am"?--ILuvSunshine (talk) 13:55, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Except "CN" is an acronym for Code Name, "IU" is an abbreviation for "I and You", and AM/PM are acronyms for ante meridiem and post meridiem, not to mention that the letters are said individually ('c n', 'i u', two a m/p m'). Exo is pronounced how it's spelled, not 'e x o'. Also note that DJ Ozma's name is nearly always written in all caps, even in news articles, but a move request resulted in the page being moved to follow Wikipedia's conventions. As I mentioned above, Wikipedia titles are not written in all caps if they aren't acronyms, initialisms or abbreviations, regardless of how they capitalized elsewhere. Per WP:ALLCAPS, we avoid writing with all capitals. — ξxplicit 23:17, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Agree with moving.--ILuvSunshine (talk) 17:32, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with moving back. EXO is not just a stylization, but the spelling. It is officially by SM Entertainment EXO and no news outlets actually refer to EXO as Exo. Sorbida, MelOn, iTunes, and other similar music sites refer it as EXO-K and EXO-M as well. Also the argument that EXO is not an acronym, initialism or abbreviation of any kind is untrue. EXO stands for EXOplanet. Applejump123 (talkcontribs) 15:39, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Exo (band)EXO (band)

Wikipedia lists the South Korean K-pop group Exo with small letters according to the no "unnecessary capitalization" rule. But the band's stage name is "EXO" and many other respectable sources including The New Yorker, Billboard, Grantland, etc, have used "EXO" instead of "Exo". Wikipedia:MOSTM is a rigid rule that should not apply to bands and musicians, see the discussion at will.i.am's article. -A1candidate (talk) 19:23, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Oppose. Per all previous discussion above and including Wikipedia:MOSTM and formal rules of English writing. Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official," as long as this is a style already in use, rather than inventing a new one Evaders99 (talk) 21:07, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Oppose per WP:MOSTM, which does apply to bands since they say to use "Kiss" and not "KISS." Exo is not an acronym and is not pronounced E-X-O, so it should be kept at Exo (band) per previous discussions. Aspects (talk) 22:28, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Also the part about the MOSTM not counting for bands and musicians has been used on multiple occasions in cases of this nature and have in most cases been successful.--174.95.109.77 (talk) 04:54, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Musicians (like k.d. lang and the cited will.i.am) are often excepted as personal names, out of respect to the individuals who wish to be known in those manners. That exception has generally not been applied to band names. Powers T 22:28, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

  • Why is any of it necessary? They are not notable enough to have their own article, and all that information is in the list article. That the K-pop editors keep reinserting it simply points to ownership--try and insert it in U2 (which, unlike this one, is a certifiably good article, even a featured one). EXO Kris lawsuit with SM Town

Multiple Korean media have confirmed that EXO’M’s Kris has filed a lawsuit against his label SM Entertainment to have his exclusive contract terminated.

10Asia and The Korea Herald confirmed that EXO-M’s leader has indeed filed the lawsuit to Seoul Central District court on May 15.

“A lawsuit regarding the termination of the contract has been submitted under Kris’s Chinese name on the 15th.” 10Asia’s article read.

SM Entertainment was quick to deny the allegations this morning but has since confirmed that it was looking into the facts.

“We are perplexed by the incident … we will do our best to keep EXO’s activities on track.” An S.M. Entertainment spokesperson told Yonhap.

allkpop.com reported that Hangeng’s lawyers, who also took SM Entertainment to court will also be representing Kris on the case.

“It is true Kris has filed a suit today (15th) against SM Entertainment for the nullification of his contract… Lawyer Cho Bum Suk, who represented Hangeng, has picked up this case.” A representative was quoted saying on allkpop.

The lawsuit came as a surprise to fans as EXO-K/EXO-M had just only released their new song ‘Overdose’ on May 7 and whether this suit will affect the group’s promotions in Korea and China has yet been confirmed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Babidollirene (talkcontribs) 02:45, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

However, it seemed that at the press conference yesterday, it was made clear that Kris will NOT be returning to EXO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sum1calldadoctor (talkcontribs) 02:10, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Do you have certain source that kris had left EXO? If you do have, please show us. Because we all know neither SM nor Kris himself made an official statement that he is leaving EXO. Sum1calldadoctor, please, this is not the way an encyclopedia editor should think. reliable sources only talk about the filing of the lawsuit, that SM is unable to contact Kris and that Exo will promote with 11 members. None of the reliable sources I read in this topic mentions even remotely that Kris would no longer be considered a member of the band. Technically, until the court decides, his contract remains valid with SM. Neither parties released any statement about him not being part of the band anymore. it's too early in the procedure yet to make decisions on this from an editorial point of view. As an editor you and nobody else has any right to write anything that cannot be backed up by valid, reliable sources into the article. you have to write what sources write. I edited the article according to the sources: that kris filed the lawsuit, is currently inactive and Exo promotes with 11 members since the filing of the lawsuit. That's ALL we know. Nothing else. It is not OUR job to declare he is no longer a member if there are no valid sources claiming so. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 14:50, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Teemeah, I apologize for my behavior, I agree with just having him as inactive until SM announces he is officially no longer a member. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sum1calldadoctor (talkcontribs) 23:35, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

I wish there to be changes to some of the roles of the members, such as Se Hun, Lay and Xiu Min, I would just like to note, each 3 of them rap partly too, most of Se Hun's lines are rap lines, same with Xiu Min in the latest songs, and Lay raps in the Chinese version Two Moons and other songs.

| Sehun || (1994-04-12)April 12, 1994 || align="center" |30 || Vocals |}

| Xiumin || (1990-03-26)March 26, 1990 || align="center" |34 || Vocals ||   South Korea |-

| Lay || (1991-10-07)October 7, 1991 || align="center" |33 || Vocals |-

All members need rap added to their positions as well.

@Fol2choco:, please mind your language. This is an encyclopedia, and not a fan site for Exo. People write articles from reliable sources. Writing stuff based on "listening to their album" is called Original Research, which has no place in Wikipedia. Just edit the page already.

There's a great number of mistakes on this horrid page. The page should be stated EXO in capital letters & I think there should also be a separate page for EXO-K & M. So it can outline what they both have achieved on their own, instead of combining things. I know for a fact I was applaud when I saw this page. Exo is a huge boy band known wherever, so this page shouldn't have mistakes, most people read background info from Wikipedia. Each member should have their own separate page too. It's a hassle to scroll all the way down & their just beginning, so all the members are bound to be in more shows and such. And please get a good picture, for their group photo, as well as their separate photos. Other pages are more professional & this one should be the same. For all their albums, they should have a separate page too and their own category for their main page. I think scandals such as Kris's leave should be more informed, have it's own header and Baekhyun's dating issue should be covered under the topic for personal, on his own page. Please edit this page!

Xiumin's date of birth stated here is listed as 1989, but it is really 1990 as listed here in the List of Exo Members page. I discussed this error with those in charge of the members page here, and this is the conclusion they came to:

The problem is that, as explained at East Asian age reckoning in the Far East "Newborns start at one year old, and at the beginning of lichun (usually February 4th, sometimes February 5th), one year is added to the person's age. In other words, the first year of life is counted as one instead of zero. .... Since age is incremented on the beginning of solar term rather than on a birthday, people may be one or two years older in Asian reckoning than in the Western system."

"This also explains the statement here "EXO's Xiumin is now 24 years old (25 in Korea) as he was born on March 26, 1990"

Several other lists also refer to March 26, 1990 so I have stuck with that, and explained how he could announce he was 25 in Korea, whilst he would only be 24 in the West. - Arjayay (talk) 16:54, 27 September 2014 (UTC)"

So my request is to change the year of birth for Xiumin from 1989 to 1990, to keep it consistent for readers so they don't think either page is full of misinformation. Sarahandjane (talk) 04:53, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

EXO K appeared in To The Beautiful You

During the episode where Dorm 2 celebrated their win over the other two dorms, EXO K made an appearance performing their single MAMA. I liked the irony since this drama series starred two of SM Entertainment's recording artists who can claim senior status over the new group. Choi Min Ho from SHINee and Sulli from F(x). I didn't think anything of it at first but when I got to listen to the song after being introduced to EXO after a random download of their song Growl, I picked up on it.

Rookie Award

On 14 July, it was announced that EXO has won 2012 Best Rookie Award of Japan's Tower Records 'K-Pop Lovers! Award'. Tower Records is the largest music store in Japan.

Japan's Tower Records reported the results which combines internet users' vote and album sales in Japan from January of this year till June. Their debut album MAMA recorded over 100,000 copies sales in just two months. The grand total of the album placed the group to become the biggest selling rookie in 2012 so far.

The use of the term "comeback"

It seems that in KPop the term "comeback" is used in place of "album/single release". I don't think we should use this term at all as it's not encyclopedic and confusing for the general public/general English speakers because outside of Kpop the term comeback is only applicable for bands who actually have had a hiatus or at least a legitimate break.

I probably should raise this issue in Kpop project page, is there such a thing? I've tried looking but there's only a wikipedia project group for Korean arts and it doesn't seem very active.--Krystaleen 02:27, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

"Past members"

Can you please remove the "Past members" thing? I know that Kris and Luhan filed a lawsuit, but SM Entertainment never confirmed if they're OFFICIALLY out of the group. Can you put them as "inactive" and also change "comprises 10 members" to "comprises 12 members"? Kris and Luhan are still listed as being a part of the group on SM's/EXO's official website. XLKSLB CCDTKS 12 (talk) 22:27, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

I have done so, because I could not find any reliable sources which states that Luhan nor Kris are former members (like Lawyer statements from either side, nor a statement from SM). Until a reliable source is found (ie: Allkpop and Koreaboo is NOT enough, a more solid source is needed), they stay as part of EXO but as inactive members for the time being. Tibbydibby (talk) 02:46, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Past membership status can at least be set for Kris since he has begun negotiations with Hwai Brothers to sign under their label in China. That has been confirmed by SM Entertainment themselves. As for them being listed still on the official site that would be the members themselves holding onto ties to both guys. They lived together, worked together, and went through a lot together as a team and as a family. SM Entertainment trained them, built their images and made them popular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.109.155.100 (talk) 00:52, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

In Kris' Case, even if he signed to "Hwai Brothers", his lawsuit is still ongoing so he can't be listed as a "Former Member" yet. In Luhan's case, he doesn't appear to be signing to a new label or do any acting as of yet. Also, Luhan's lawsuit is ongoing right now. TL:DR, both lawsuits are ongoing so they aren't former members... yet. Tibbydibby (talk) 20:25, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
It seems that both Kris and Luhan consider themselves out of the group though.--Krystaleen 02:33, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Please replace Chinese with South Korean and South Korean with Chinese because there are 8 korean members in Exo and 4 Chinese members hence why Korean should be put first instead of Chinese or else people may think that Exo is mostly a Chinese group even though they are mostly Korean. Also add "K-pop" next to it because Exo is known to be a "K-pop" group.

Original: Exo (Korean: 엑소; often stylized as EXO) is a Chinese-South Korean boy band based in Seoul. Please change it to: Exo (Korean: 엑소; often stylized as EXO) is a South Korean-Chinese K-pop boy band based in Seoul.

South Korean-Chinese or Chinese-South Korean

There has been an edit war recently on many Exo articles about the order in which the nationalities of the group should be listed in the lead: South Korean-Chinese or Chinese-South Korean. As far as I can tell, it has historically been listed as "SK-C" on Exo articles (including this one) and on the Exo disambiguation page. Recently a single user (as far as I can tell) changed them all to C-SK. Because this article is currently protected, an admin has asked for a consensus before changing it back to SK-C.

I know this issue has to have come up before somewhere on Wikipedia but I've hit a dead end trying to find previous consensus or existing policy/guidelines.

A few points I dug up:

  • f(x) (band) is described as "multi-national" - they consist of Korean and Chinese members but sing primariy in Korean (as far as I know) - no relevant discussion on talk page
  • Super Junior-M is described as "Mandopop" - they consist of Korean and Chinese members but sing solely in Mandarin (as far as I know) - no relevant discussion on talk page
  • Super Junior - how were they described when Chinese national Han Geng was a member? (anyone remember or up for a huge journey through the article history?)
  • Exo has more Korean members than Chinese; they were formed in South Korea; they are run by a South Koran company (SM Entertainment)
  • 2PM is described as South Korean, despite presence of a Thai member

Let's work together to reach a consensus on the best possible, non-offensive, non-contentious wording. Note: for anyone joining from outside the world of kpop, nationality typically needs to be included in the lead of these articles as it is closely tied to establishing their notability. Shinyang-i (talk) 00:26, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Exo was formed by a South Korean entertainment company for release in the South Korean market. The fact that the group was broken into South Korean and Chinese sub-units is a marketing strategy. So I think that articles should be labeled as "SK-C". Mikepellerintalk 02:39, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Country pairings throughout Wikipedia are generally ordered alphabetically, however. The History of Japan–Korea relations article is not located at History of Korea-Japan relations, and whenever a lead paragraph mentions multiple countries, in most cases they are listed in order from A to Z. --benlisquareTCE 04:01, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't know what just happened, but as far as I can tell this page is still protected and yet it has been edited with the exact change being discussed right now. The user that made the change was the one who approached me about the edit war in the first place. Anyone know what's going on? I don't see a consensus yet and I don't know how this happened from a technical point of view. Shinyang-i (talk) 07:12, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I reverted the user's edit. Let's continue the discussion. Shinyang-i (talk) 07:21, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm reading this conversation and thinking...does the order even matter? Isn't the point just that the fact EXO is a South Korean/Chinese group is conveyed somehow? I apologize if I'm taking this issue too lightly. If I need to take a stand, I would say "South Korean-Chinese group" as the group's main activities are done in Korea or we can just describe it as "multi-national".  SmileBlueJay97  talk  17:20, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

It seems to matter to some people as they spend copious amounts of time switching the order. The group is based in Korea but I guess their activities are equally split between Korea and China(?). I'd vote for multi-national, although at some point in the article, both Korean and Mandarin will have to be mentioned. Maybe if it's down in the article and not up in the lead people won't fight so much over which gets mentioned first. I personally don't care at all, but ... seems to be a hot issue with some editors. Shinyang-i (talk) 17:36, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Noticed this on the project page. See it isn't resolved. Figured I'd give my opinion on this since the discussion result can affect "my" page. Cross Gene are listed as Multinational. They were made intentionally to target all relevant Asian markets so they actually use terms like Asian and Multinational in their media play. I think the same can apply to EXO because much like Cross Gene, it is also a part of their identity. Also I would definitely like to keep multinational for Cross Gene as I don't want to have the headache of trying to decide which country to list first on a group formed by a Japanese label, based in Korea with members from both countries who also has Chinese members and promotions. I say we use multinational. Ausnarnia (talk) 18:39, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
South Korean-Chinese makes more sense to me. They're formed in Korea by a Korean company and as of now are based in Korea. They have more Korean members too compared to Chinese members. It's pretty clear to me.--Krystaleen 14:50, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay Krystaleen but calling them a Multinational group covers that. There will always be someone out there saying it should be Korea first or China first, and I feel using multinational is the best way to avoid this. Peachywink (talk) 20:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
I don't know, multinational seems to give the Chinese part too much weight.--Krystaleen 14:41, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
See I disagree, to me multicultural is the better description. Until they disband the sub unit or the remaining Chinese members leave I think it is misleading to call the group completely Korean. They release nearly all their songs and music videos with both Chinese and Korean versions, something I haven't seen other groups really do. They also have 2 Korean members use Chinese stage names. I think the Chinese members play an important role in the way the group promotes themselves so calling them a multicultural boy group to me is fair and still accurate.Peachywink (talk) 23:41, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Well I never said call them Korean. I said South Korean-Chinese.--Krystaleen 02:06, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Going to start the indents over before this gets crazy. Continuing with befor, Krystaleen I miss read you're suggestion that time...I also seem to have used multicultural when I meant multinational. My bad, sorry about that, don't type super late at night people. It's not good.Peachywink (talk) 07:59, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't see how using multinational is giving too much weight to the Chinese part, it's simply a fact. But I could get making this argument for a group that only promoted outside Korea as an afterthought, but that is not the case for EXO. They were made for both markets. They aren't and have never been exclusively a Kpop group, so multinational fits better. Ausnarnia (talk) 05:42, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

This is kind of a racist discussion. Do people realize that? It should be general and neutral: aphabetically! Chinese-South Korean. --176.0.76.125 (talk) 08:33, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

How is this racist at all? Besides, Korean and Chinese share the same race (they're both mongoloid) so this is such a fail argument.--Krystaleen 12:59, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Inactive?

It's pretty safe to say Kris and Luhan are never coming back, so they should not be listed as inactive. Also Tao's leaving as well so that needs to be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.152.1.168 (talk) 18:15, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

they are inactive until their contracts are ended or dissovled by the courts, or do you have a better word for still being under contract but not joining in group activties? As for Tao I see no official statement from lawyers or Tao himself have been given about his departure. Only his dad saying he will, but no legal actions towards dissoving the contract yet. I'm not saying the members are coming back to me that idea is laughable, but we can't add speculation here only facts.Peachywink (talk) 21:38, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

HI! I am big big EXO fan from Singapore! I love Kris and I wish to join the band and bring it to greater heights. I have a suggestion for the next song which is Howl. Thank you! KevinEXO (talk) 01:24, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Kevin, this a discussion page for a Wikipedia article on the band EXO. This is not EXO's official website, so if you are trying to suggest a song, you will have to go there. If you are confused about how to edit Wikipedia (this website), please feel free to leave a question on my talk page. Altamel (talk) 01:55, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

What is this?

under the 2011 section in the body there is a sentence that starts with: After several changes,[5] ....it gives a refernce and that is literally all the line says. There is no suggestion as to it's meaning in the other lines before or after it, nor is it clear from the source. Peachywink (talk) 13:24, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Can you please update the members list to include current and past members? The current 9 members are Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun. Kris, Tao and Luhan are no longer in the group. See the references below:

blah blah "part I want to add" blah blah

XOXO was a critical and commercial success, winning both Disk Daesang at the 28th Golden Disk Awards and Album of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards. It eventually went on to sell over one million copies, putting EXO as the best-selling Korean artist in twelve years [1] "and earning them the title of "King of Male Idol Groups" for achieving such a feat as rookies.

Reliable references template no longer needed

Hi all, I feel that the template for unreliable references/citations is no longer required as the mentions of citations needed on the 'to-do' list are all in the members section. The article no longer has a members section, as each member now has their own article... hence there is nothing to add citations to, hence the template is no longer needed? It has been there for over 18 months and "templates are not meant to be in articles permanently" according to Wikipedia. It also serves to unjustly throw doubt on the entire article.NicklausEXO (talk) 16:33, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

The tag shouldn't be removed because there are still references to Allkpop, Soompi, Koreaboo, Tumblr and OneHallyu. That is why the tag was placed on the page. See WP:KO/RS for more informative. Random86 (talk) 18:50, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
The tag can now be removed as I have completely removed all references to Allkpop, Soompi, Koreaboo, Tumblr and OneHallyu along with every other source "Considered Unreliable" by WP:KO/RS and they have all been swapped with reliable sources or the content of the article has been altered so they are no longer required. If there is a consensus reached I shall remove it ASAP.
I removed the tag. Good work! Your edits were not spam, by the way. Random86 (talk) 20:51, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Years Active

So it currently says that they were active in 2011 and onwards from that. However, is that technically correct? By the end of 2011 they had not released any music and only a few of the members had been revealed to the public. Behind closed doors they were a group, but they weren't 'active' until they were revealed in early 2012 and didn't release any music until a few months into 2012. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? NicklausEXO (talk) 11:07, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

If that is the case, yes, the years active should be 2012-present. But they said (whoever did say) to keep it because their performance at 2011 SBS Gayo Daejun. Alicia leo86 (talk) 06:31, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

who ever changed this to say tao is a current member of exo needs to be banned. while he is in dispute and can be considered still under SM he is NOT in exo which has been confirmed by the company saying xo has moved on and the boys can no longer go back to the group. this is infuriating and offensive to Ztoa to claim he is a current member... do you seem him in monster? you see him promoting. no because he is no longer a member! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.47.106.60 (talk) 06:03, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Lead editing

The lead contains the most basic information about album sales for their previous albums and the associated 'million seller' titles for single and double. I submitted an edit to update this with their more recent "triple million seller" title and am being told that it is not relevant to the lead. This is incorrect. If you talk about the first and second times this occurred, the third time is also appropriate. Otherwise the lead is displaying outdated and incomplete information. Will the user who undit my edit please justify themselves?NicklausEXO (talk) 02:15, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

  • No, that is not how it works. If the first one is special, a breakthrough album, you don't have to repeat similar information for all the others, since all the others aren't breakthrough albums. Also, that lead was atrocious and illegible. I strongly encourage you to look at some good articles on Wikipedia to study how good leads are written. And in general, leads never contain such lists of sales information. Drmies (talk) 03:45, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

You can mention their accumlative sales for example in the lead (with a trustable source!!), but individual album sales should be mentioned in the article body, not in the lead. The lead is a short summary of the article, not the place to "brag" about achievements in details. You can mention why they are important or notable but it's not for listing all their achievements. For example look at the article of Jackie Chan. It tells what he is famous for, and how many films he appeared in but doesn't list the films themselves. It also tells what his net worth is, but doesn't list in detail how he got that net worth. That's for the article body. Or take a look at Nirvana (band) intro. It doesn't list you the sales of individual albums. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 08:43, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

In the section under the header titled EXO-CBX, please change "(shortened from ChenBaekXiu)" to "(shortened from ChenBaekXi)." ChenBaekXi (without the U at the end) is the proper name! I know this because I am a fan. Thank you!
