A 1935 poem by Vermont poet Mark Whalon, "Just Livin' on a Margin", is a critique of the eugenics movement and the surveyors: [1], [2]. The Walloomsack Review article has four relevant bibliographical materials listed at the end of it, some or all of which may be added to a "Further Reading" section appended to this wiki article.
