esme starting the baudelaire Fire

edit

i have been thinking esme is responsible. it is suggested in the autiobiography she only married jerome to gain entry in the baudelaire mansion. she could have done it in revenge for beatrice stealing her sugar bowl. I always thought it was count olaf, despite him denying it to the baudelaires, especially as it is suggested that the baudelaires had something to do with his parents deaths. but maybe it is esme. although why does Olaf constantly cal the baudelaires orphans when he is an orphan himself. --78.146.200.4 (talk) 02:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its an interesting theory but can't be posted unless you have a source to back it up.--CyberGhostface (talk) 03:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah i know, i don't have anything to back it up. And it cant be posted. Although a lot of things to do with unfortunate events are guessing and not certany. guess thats why i like the books so much. xx —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.242.109.248 (talk) 21:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

City?

edit

"She is the city's sixth-most-important financier".... WHAT city? TheMadBaron 18:20, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it mentions a name. Its just the city in the series - there are no other cities in the books. --Celestianpower háblame 18:34, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I see.... would that not be Boston, as per the movie? TheMadBaron 19:37, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
No, that's the film and the Film is a rubbish representation of the book. --Celestianpower háblame 19:52, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Strong opinion you have there! And yet so true. In one of the books Snicket tells his editor to take a train out of the city, thus indicating that whatever city his editor lives in is the city in question (I do not know what city he/she lives in). It has also been suggested (with little support) that the name of the city is Versailles (not the French Versailles), due to the picture of a building marked, "Versailles Post Office".

My question is: how many financial advisors are there? because if there are only 6 or 7, then she must not be very good. -isabel

isobel it wouldnt surprise me if there werent many finacial advisors, esme is so dimwitted that she probably didnt realise that.--78.146.97.89 (talk) 23:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

J. D. Salinger

edit

I see it's mentioned here that Esmé was named for "For Esmé--with Love and Squalor." Should it be mentioned that the collection is also known as "Nine Stories" and that "For Esmé--with Love and Squalor" is alos the name of a short story in the collection? Also, it wasn't actually mentioned in the article that J.D. Salinger, Jerome Squalor's namesake, is the author of the aforementioned short story collection. mattarmato 23:11, 30 August 2007

Lettuce Ladies

edit

Can anyone clarify if Lemony Snicket admitted her lettuce bikini was a direct response to PETA? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chinawoman (talkcontribs) 04:40, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
