I replaced a version that had been nominated for deletion
editAt the AFD several contributors were concerned the earlier version did not comply with WP:NOR. I agreed, yet believed the underlying topic is notable.
The version I trimmed contained some cracks about how 1066 marked one invasion, and the UK's membership in the EU was a second invasion. That certainly had to go.
But the version I trimmed might have passages that could be re-incorporated in the article, or rewritten and re-added -- if they were referenced in a way that showed they were quotes, or paraphrases of something previously published in a reliable source. I encourage the author of that version to ask for guidance here, as they made newbie mistakes, the first time.

explanation
editBy long-standing tradition the first sentence of our articles contains the article's name, in bold. This sometimes results in slightly awkward sentences, but it is our convention, so I restored that wording. Geo Swan (talk) 03:16, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
