editThe german WP lists a prior label, Vortex, as also under Mann's supervision. their article translates:
- The Vortex Jazz label was run by Herbie Mann while he was under contract with Atlantic Records. Both Herbie Mann Another Vortex and Embryo label was distributed by Atlantic. Man-produced recordings by Chick Corea (his debut album, Tones for Joan's Bone, 1966), Roy Ayers, Robin Kenyatta (Until), Leo Wright, Dave Pike, Byard Lancaster (It's Not Up To Us, 1968), Joe Zawinul (The Rise & Fall of the Third Stream, 1968) and Sonny Sharrock (Black Woman, 1969). Vortex also appeared on the first three albums by pianist Keith Jarrett, Life Between The Exit Signs, Restoration and ruin Somewhere Before.
This would be useful information to add here or in a new article.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:16, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. if anyone has documentation on the origin of the label's logo, PLEASE add it. i know the origin, but i have no documentation to support it.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 02:39, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
