Various times during the Ekka the weather can be very sunny and it could be the hottest day in Ekka history so be sure to take a Hat, Sunscreen and Drinking water as the day can be very long and exhausting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.211.125.138 (talkcontribs)

Ekka means what?

edit

"It was originally called the Brisbane Exhibition, however it is more commonly known as the Ekka, which is a shortening of the word exhibition." To a non Australian, this just about makes sense.

"During a time when the Ekka was still young, the main purpose of the agricultural show, as its name suggests, ..." To a non Australian, the name suggests nothing.

Ekka at first sight appears to be an abbreviation of something (but isn't). A better explanation may be: "The word Ekka is a contraction of the word Exhibition in Australian parlance" ??
