Roman and modern roads

C. I. Makaronas in his article "Via Egnatia and Thessaloniki", Studies presented to D. M. Robinson i (St. Louis, 1951) demonstrated that the Roman-era Via Egnatia passed near and may have touched the walls somewhere on the city's northeastern side and that the modern Odhos Egnatia does not occupy the same route. This article is in severe need of just one reference! If what you say is true, feel free to add that book as a reference. Look at the Template:cite book template, and then add <ref>{{cite book...}}</ref> next to the text that the book supports.
