Sourcing

edit

This article could use further help with sourcing. There are no external sources cited published since 2015 and many of the claims have not been properly cited; see, in particular, the list of speakers. Seaweed Llama (talk) 05:39, 5 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I added a citation for the list of speakers. Entering the relevant names on the search box will display the talk(s) given by that speaker. One could also provide a citation for each individual speaker, but I think that would be tedious and unnecessary. Pablo (talk) 14:47, 5 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Primary sources

edit

There are five primary sources in the references (I include the Guan piece, because she has close associations with effective altruism and it was published on the Huffington Post "blog"). There are three non-primary sources (though one probably doesn't meet the "significant coverage" criterion). Delete most primary sources, find more non-primary sources, and use more info from the existing non-primary sources (the authors seem to have ignored the significant criticism of EA Global in the Vox piece). Edit under permissible COI

edit

Hi! I'm adding this note since I've swapped the image in the main article. I'm under a COI because I used to work for the nonprofit that organized these series of events, but following WP:COI, I'm making the edit as I think it's uncontroversial:

In some cases, the addition of media files to an article may be an uncontroversial edit that editors with a COI can make directly, but editors should exercise discretion and rely on talk pages when images may be controversial or promotional. If the addition of an image is challenged by another editor, it is controversial.

I'm keeping this topic in case any editor objects to the edit (in which case I'm okay with an undo + making a request to edit). agucova (talk) 22:02, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
