Talk:Economic consequences of population decline

Scope creep editor has inserted a note asking for revisions to the lead. My response: See if this works better. I have inserted a heading, “Introduction”, that delineates the first para of this article, which I intended to be the lead. My mistake was not doing this originally. So, Wikipedia assumed that the lead was everything before the first heading, and that was too much. As for context; once we establish that population is declining in some countries and, according to the UN, will spread to others and perhaps the whole planet, then the next logical question is “what does this mean?” That is the subject of the “Economic consequences” section in the main article. I have tried to show that the key to whether population decline is positive or negative for a country depends on whether GDP/capita grows faster than population declines. On 27 Dec SororityBodyguard found an error in this article. I’m not sure how that happened. The World Bank may have re-organized its charts since I wrote this in 2019, or the citation simply pointed to the wrong chart, but in any case, I am working on a new version of what was deleted with new numbers and references to simplify the example and solve the problem raised by SororityBodyguard Joe Bfsplk (talk) 18:50, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
