Title of Doctor?
editAnyone know where the title of doctor comes from? Doctor of what, humane letters or some other honoray degree, or did she earn it academically? Thanks
Disambig Administrator?
editIt would be nice if someone could disambiguate the Administrator link. I personally have no idea what it means that Dorothy Height is an African American Administrator. BigNate37 03:15, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Congressional Gold Medal
editIt says that she was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal by Bush, but the President does not give out the Gold Medal, he gives out the Medal of Freedom. Should it say that he was the one who presented it to her?
- I'm going to add "on behalf of the United States Congress" at the end, since nobody else seems to be watching or knows the correct wording. I'm not familiar with US national awards or how the American Government is organised, so I apologise if I got it wrong. BigNate37T·C 17:37, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Does Ms Height have any sibling?
- Important to know because she helped to improve the quality of life for African-Americans. Miranda 21:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Ms. Height was on the national staff of the YWCA, not the YMCA. This is a glaring and insensitive error. What man wrote this bio? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.56.216.42 (talk) 17:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello,
My name is Serena Wesson. I am the daughter of Alphonzo Wesson, the director of "We are Not Vanishing". "We are not Vanishing" is a 20 minute documentary short which talks about the life of Dr. Dorothy Height and her event, The Black Family Reunion. It was narrated by Bill Cosby. During Black History Month, the cable channel Showtime will sometimes show it.
Below I have posted all the relevant links on the movie:
We Are Not Vanishing - TV Movie - 23 min - Documentary - 6 February 2002 (USA)

If you have any questions please let me know. My fathers IMDB page is here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1311680/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
If you would like to speak to him personally, I can get you his information.
Thank you, Serena Wesson

Elks?
editThe early life section mentions "Elks," a place she got a scholarship from, but there's no further information regarding this "Elks." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.246.101.50 (talk) 14:21, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Curious that Barnard College refuses to acknolwedge their previous racist policies on their wiki page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.30.189.3 (talk) 17:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- If you're referring to the Wikipedia article about Barnard College, the content of that page isn't controlled by Barnard. You could edit the article if you think it's appropriate, or suggest an edit. One thing I would caution is to keep in mind that what Barnard did in 1929 was similar to what many other colleges were doing; racism in our society was thoroughgoing. Compare, for example, the mention of slavery in the article on Brown University, which is noteworthy for a couple of reasons: the founder of the university made part of his fortune out of the slave trade, and in the last decade there was an institutional examination of this history. Please add this text to the section entitled "Later life and death"

Please add the text below to the section entitled "Later life and death" on Dorothy Height's page.
Dr. Height served on the Children’s Defense Fund Board of Directors for over 30 years. In 1990, Dr. Height co-convened with Dr. John Hope Franklin and the Children's Defense Fund a quiet but landmark meeting of 22 Black leaders at the Rockefeller Foundation conference center in Bellagio, Italy that launched the Black Community Crusade for Children (BCCC) committed to Leave No Child Behind™. - Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. http://www.childrensdefense.org is considered PRIMARY and therefor not RS — {{U|Technical 13}} (t • e • c) 13:56, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Awards and honors -- Google Doodle (please add)

Will someone please add the following or similar on the "Awards and honors" section:
- On March 24, 2014, in celebration of the 102nd anniversary of her birthday, Google featured a doodle with a portrait of Ms. Height above protestors marching with signs.[1][2][3]
Thanks! 74.162.87.31 (talk) 18:35, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
- Done --Mdann52talk to me! 14:35, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, Mdann52... I appreciate it! (And now that the article is no longer protected, I corrected a minor formatting error, i.e. closing tag for third reference seems to have gone missing -- the "horror" -- when adding above entry to the article) 74.162.89.221 (talk) 15:41, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
