8 official caps as of September 2014

edit

I am perfectly aware that Origi played 9 matches with the (senior) Belgian team by now, but as already mentioned a couple of times the match against Luxembourg in 2013 is not regarded as official by FIFA, due to too many substitutions (see http://www.espnfc.com/fifa-world-cup/story/1861189/belgium-win-wiped-from-records-after-7-subs-used for more information). Also, in the second paragraph of the introduction, the word "formation" should be changed to "career". 78.147.174.165 (talk) 11:34, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Divock Origi's status

edit

Hello.

<rant> I am becoming increasingly frustrated with Wikipedia of late. If it isn't excessive "quoting" from books (good old fashioned plagiarism), political bias, it is blatantly incorrect information. Worse, the "moderators" seem hell bent on keeping it that way. Two examples spring to mind. (1) I had an ongoing battle to use a section header on a story. I added it and a "moderator" removed it. Only when I pointed out that every other section had a section header did it finally remain. In fact, I had to get quite rude with the "moderator". (2) A claim was made about the naming of an area in my home town that was false. Only an "outsider" new to the town would have made such a claim ... but oh no, Wikipedia that bastion of truth had it proudly displayed. To ensure the falsehood was removed permanently (i.e. not undone by a "moderator", I had to point out that if Wikipedia persisted on keeping such falsehoods, I would use my own vivid imagination and write tons of rubbish of my own and dress it up as facts!. Not that I wanted to, of course, but I find it breathtaking just how difficult it is to get "moderators" to move on and accept corrections. It is like somebody is criticising their precious baby. Diddums! I have corrected vandalism on politicians' websites (for example, the claim that my MP at the time was the son of some obscure popstar. That false claim had been on Wikipedia for months!). So, Wikipedia is not infallible. However, many moderators seem to believe they are infallible. Well, I call Fake news on you. </rant>

Divock Origi. TLDR. He playED for AC Milan. He is no longer an active player at the club.

You'd think that would be a simple correction. After all, 1. He joined AC Milan (as pointed out by a genuinely helpful moderator who quoted the club website: [1]https://www.acmilan.com/en/news/articles/media/2022-07-05/official-statement-divock-origi I do not dispute that he joined the club.

2. After his return from a loan spell at Notts Forest, AC Milan attempted to sell Divock Origi. For whatever reason, no sale took place. AC Milan club director Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed that Origi [is] not part of the first team project. [2]https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/divock-origi-liverpool-milan-footbal-34127324 [3]https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/i-won-the-champions-league-with-liverpool-but-ive-now-been-exiled-at-new-club/ar-AA1upvj5 [4]https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/07/divock-origi-forced-to-train-with-youth-team-as-zlatan-ibrahimovic-reveals-his-fate/ [5]https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-legend-banished-youth-team-29498997 [6]https://www.sportskeeda.com/football/news-not-part-plans-zlatan-ibrahimovic-confirms-liverpool-icon-divock-origi-banished-first-team-ac-milan [7]https://sports.yahoo.com/liverpool-champions-league-legend-exiled-192700429.html

I'm sure I could share more links ... who knows what "sources of wikitruth" are acceptable. Let's try:

3. The club's won website that lists its own players. Hmmm, I wonder if that might say who plays for AC Milan (rather than just playED). Let's look. [8]https://www.acmilan.com/en/teams/men-first-team/all Ah ... he's not there. ... but I can hear the "moderators" saying "oh, could be a translation problem". Well, try the native italian site: [9]https://www.acmilan.com/it/squadre/prima-squadra-maschile/tutti Oh. Che strano! Ci deve essere una sbaglia! (If I remember my Italian correctly).

Well, no, it isn't strange and it isn't a mistake. He is missing because he no longer plays for them.

But oh no. The brave defenders of wikitruth say no. Until it is on the BBC, written in The Guardian, The Observer (or the Independent) we will not believe our own eyes or ears.

Well, I for one am fed up with this approach. Totally fed up. You persist with sticking to false information. Just to point out, I have absolutely nothing against Divock Origi. I wish him good luck. For me, this issue is the final straw before I add this line to my hosts file which will save me from these torments:

You seem to have nothing but sheer contempt for this site. So why worry about it so much? Mattythewhite (talk) 20:15, 7 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Woosh! Over your head, eh. Wow. Just keep up the great work at defending the truth, fella! Hey, if you believe enough, you might just make it true. 2A02:C7C:D4BF:AD00:2C35:5338:F38B:DA35 (talk) 21:30, 7 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
No rant is necessary: only reliable sources. The Liverpool Echo source is fine and I have added a paragraph based on it. Note that I am not a "moderator", just an editor like everyone else. Content in Wikipedia articles is based on consensus, not any status of its contributors. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:44, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
