editI've done some work to make this page more wikipedia-worthy. How does it look? Does the tag still need to remain? Thanks, DJRafe 18:30, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've just removed the tag. Nice work! --Folantin 10:20, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Great article. I wanted some basic info without someone writing their graduate thesis, and this fit the bill. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.249.215.163 (talk) 03:27, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
"the camp experience"
editUtitz survived the camp experience - This seems an odd phrasing, considering that it was a concentration camp. "The camp experience" sounds more like a Boy Scouts summer camp. I"ve deleted "experience." Omc (talk) 03:31, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

Der Trommler – Drummer, not Drummer Girl
edit"Der" is the male article in German, a female character would have been named "Die Trommlerin" or "Das Trommlermädchen". OrestesLebt (talk) 12:31, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
British premieres
editThere seem to be a lot of them:
- 1977 London Sinfonietta (studio performance only?)
- June 1979 - Dutch National Opera/Nottingham
- May 1981 "British premiere" - Morley College (amateur performance, I suppose)
- July 1988 "1st professional production" - Mecklenburgh Opera/Donmar
to which might be added:
- 10 May 1988 - Wiener Kammeroper/George Tabori/Bloomsbury Theatre
Perhaps they are true, but just need explaining. Davidships (talk) 16:56, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Characters in English
editThe Emperor's name Kaiser Overall is deliberately foreign in the orignial German libretto, and is given as Emperor Überall in the Englisch libretto published by Schott in 1994. (ISBN 979-0-001-08390-4) The roles and voice types are listed there as follows:
Role in German | Role in English | voice type |
---|---|---|
Kaiser Overall | Emperor Überall | baritone |
Der Lautsprecher | The Loudspeaker | bass |
Der Tod | Death | bass |
Harlekin | Harlequin | tenor |
Ein Soldat | A Soldier | tenor |
Bubikopf, ein Soldat | "Bubikopf" (The Girl with Bobbed Hair), a Soldier | soprano |
Der Trommler | The Drummer | alto/mezzo-soprano |
