Successful - POV
editThere seems to be some slight disagreement about the inclusion of the word "successful" to describe Dawn Porter. Considering she has a BBC backed series to her name, amongst a number of other television appearances mentioned in the article, does it really come under POV? 81.154.136.118 (talk) 22:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree. It seems self-evident from the content that the use of the word is appropriate. I'd think it can be re-inserted.90.192.225.245 (talk) 14:51, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Success is relative and adjectives can be dangerous things in reference works. If X is listed as "successful" but Y is not so listed despite having demonstrably fronted a similar number of programmes, for example, then the entire thing becomes a semantical and POV nightmare. Worse still if the basis for the usage is arguable, as in this case, where "successful" might subjectively be referenced to audience figures, "kudos" of the TV channel and time-slot etc. Best to leave it out - it is not as if it adds anything to the article of great significance. POV? The article reads as if it has been written by DP's publicist. I'd edit it to include something along the lines of 'DP is an irritating obnoxious media whore' but I suppose that would be POV too. --80.176.142.11 (talk) 00:27, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps it does read as you say re: POV - and I am a cynic at heart - but I'm not sure why you chose to make the statement that you did in quotes. It is asking for trouble, IMO. Your statement is most definitely POV. Sitush (talk) 01:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I am right?
