Twitter as a Reference

edit

How is Twitter not an acceptable reference when the person in question (Daryn Jones himself) is the one who Tweeted the news? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.231.215 (talk) 19:52, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

This entire page reads like an ad for the guy. '...Daryn was an obvious choice to anchor MTV Live', '...If he wasn't working on MTV Live this funny man says...', 'As if parlaying his stand-up work into television and film wasn't enough...', 'This gig soon turned into the hilarious sketch-comedy series...' are just to list a few examples.Excise 18:23, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

As there were no arguments, I went ahead and reverted to a more neutral version. Excise 17:55, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Darynejones.JPG

edit

Image:Darynejones.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice: This article lacks WP:A to establish WP:BIO

In my opinion, this article either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it is a Copyright violation.

Wikipedia articles must be based on reliable sources to verify any claims of notability. Even though the lack of reliable source attribution in an article is not grounds for deletion in itself, an article with absolutely no sources (or only external links to unreliable ones) suggests to some editors that multiple reliable sources may not, in fact, exist.

I am considering tagging this article for deletion according to the Deletion policy, although I am nonetheless willing to assist the author, Excise (talk · contribs), to make constructive improvements to it ... I do not have time to examine this article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

Please respond on this Discussion page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation. —72.75.72.63 (talk) 23:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think there is any doubt that he is notable, though a few more sources are needed to verify some claims. –Pomte 00:19, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Now, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! ... in less than a fortnight, Daryn Jones (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) has been cleaned up real nice by Some Other Editor ... I had originally flagged it on Xmas day, but recently replaced the {{Warn-article}} template with a shorter, less user hostile version ... I replaced the original message mostly for demonstration purposes ... that pinged someone who hadn't contributed to this article since last April, when they disambig'd a link ... now I can drop it from my radar, and MOVE ON! :-) Happy Editing! —72.75.72.63 (talk · contribs) 04:15, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was not the author of the page. Rather just some fellow who came across it and saw it was hilariously biased. After posting a message on the talk page to see if anyone disagreed, I reverted to a more neutral form. I'm totally cool with deleting the page if need be. I have no particular stake in it.
