Under-23s

edit

I assume that Sri Lanka are playing an under 23 squad like in the men's event. Not sure about Bangladesh though as there are well over 3 over-age players in their squad, and although Bangladesh are a full member their women's team doesn't play in the womens championship, so maybe its a senior squad. Will be relevant to whether or not their matches have WT20I status. Bs1jac (talk) 23:17, 1 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Cricinfo currently has all matches as WT20Is, but I am pretty sure that Sri Lanka's matches won't/shouldn't be (based on their squad). Bangladesh does appear to have close to it's usual squad though. Bs1jac (talk) 12:25, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Lugnuts: Sri Lanka have definitely named an U23 squad, and Bangladesh have named a senior squad. I have contacted Cricinfo as they currently have all matches as numbered WT20I games, and it seems that matches involving Sri Lanka should not be (unless they have agreed to count them anyway). Thanks! Looks like the SL/BAN game from today is not numbered as a WT20I match on CI. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 05:47, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Now I've woken up a bit more and I'm sat in work, it did strike me as odd that virtually non of the SL squad had previous WT20I matches under their belts. Well, now I know! Thanks again. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:51, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's true, and no one is listed as making their debut (even though most of them would have been)... BUT if you look at records etc, such as here it is still a WT20I in some lists at the moment, and also later SL games still have a number assigned. My contact says that it is a technical issue due to the fact that they were originally set up as WT20Is, and that they are also seeking clarification from the ICC. Hopefully cleared soon as the WT20I numbers for the remaining matches (and in Botswana) are all still as they were and so there will be gaps. Bs1jac (talk) 14:32, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Also, while no players are listed as making a WT20I debut, and the cap list has no additions, stats have been updated on the batting and bowling stats for Sri Lanka to include this match. So they have sort of treated it as a WT20I and sort of note. A bit of a mess really! Hopefully they will sort it one way or the other soon as this will mess up stats and the match numbers of future matches. Bs1jac (talk) 19:41, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
If they are not WT20I's then loads of records from today's game won't be official... That's sad!! :D :DAnkurc.17 (talk) 14:00, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Cricinfo have told me that neither SL or Ban squads have WT20I status (even though most of Bangladesh's players are over 23). Therefore only the match between Maldives and Nepal will be a WT20I once CI have fixed everything. The bronze medal match will also be a WT20I if it is between Maldives and Nepal. Looks like they've fixed things now. Player profiles show "Other T20" instead of WT20I matches. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:18, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Read it in the edit section... a T20I series between Mali and Maldives will be record shattering... @Bs1jac:@Lugnuts: Ankurc.17 (talk) 06:38, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
What about a tri-series with Australia?! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:52, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Now now, you would want them to score a run at-least Ankurc.17 (talk) 17:10, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
