During a visit to New Britain in 2000, thanks to a flight cancellation, I was stuck in a Malaysian timber camp overnight at Cape Orford (on the SE coast, on the western side of Wide Bay, Papua New Guinea). There were numerous males that appeared to be this species, some of which appeared to me to exceed the size given in the text. I at first wondered if they were the same species, but I now believe they would have been Coscinocera omphale, for which there is so far no article in Wikipedia.
