Bias??

- I was going to say the same thing. I've removed some purely subjective phrases:
- "In the 1980s Manhattan Portage began using 1000D Cordura Nylon in their bags to ensure durability." (deleted "to ensure durability")
- "Clothing brands like Snickers and Scruffs use the fabric to help their garments last longer." (deleted "to help their garments last longer")
- "Cordura fabrics are available in a wide range of constructions, weights and aesthetics, including versions that are designed especially for tear resistance, color retention, and light-weight durability." (ending becomes "tear resistance and color retention")
- "New fabrics continue to be developed under the Cordura brand by Invista for application in an increasing range of items." (Sentence becomes "Invista continues to develop new fabrics under the Cordura brand")
- Seem right? AndyFielding (talk) 06:44, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

editDoes anyone know if it is safe to use this product as protective equipment on a motorcycle? This is dependant on the garment. There are many brands of motorcycle jacket that use Cordura in their construction as an outer layer. Many jackets have a removeable inner layer of padding to provide more winter insulation. Motorcycle jackets also need protective padding in areas such as the elbows to prevent grazes when the rider falls off. Cordura Jackets can be waterproofed -the level of waterproof protection varies. The most common level of denier used is 500 or 600. Normal Cordura jackets are hot so work well in cool climates but the rider quickly gets hot when the temperature is over 85F,especially when stopped at traffic lights etc. Some jackets have vents that can be unzipped to allow airflow but they only really work at open highway speed.Summer, or Mesh jackets, have panels of open weave material at the front and back that allow airflow, even at lower speeds. They work well in hot places like southern and central US, Australia or any place where bikes are ridden in temperatures of 90 or more and/or humidity is very high. Manufacturers still tend to make them black which means you still get hot when sitting still. Lighter colours like grey would help. Most mesh jackets still have the majority of the jacket area made of 500 denier material. Cordura jackets are now the norm for bike wear as they are cheaper and more water resistant than leather. Leather is an ideal material in cool places with a dry climate and it has very high abrasion resistance-that is why race official insist that road riders race in full leathers. If you want a waterproof jacket then look for one made of Gortex.
Does anyone know what the different ratings of Cordura mean? (600D, 1000D, etc.)

I work for the CORDURA(R) brand on their social media marketing efforts - that being said there are some things that are missing from this entry that we would like to provide. Per the Wikipedia for business guide (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Business_FAQ) this was the recommended best way to help make those changes. If there is a better way to go about this, please advise.
The lead should be updated to a present day description of the brand. INVISTA (http://www.invista.com/page_product_index_en.shtml) is now the parent company as of 2004 (http://www.invista.com/news_releases/2004/pr_040430_invistasale.html), though the reference to Dupont as a past parent is correct it should be mentioned later on or in the history section of the page. Also, the link to the Dupont reference is broken (it should be: http://www2.dupont.com/Heritage/en_US/related_topics/condura.html).
We would also like to update the types of fabrics manufactured by the brand (more than just Nylon 6,6) and the categories of products in which the fabric is used (a more generic overview, specifics listed now may cause confusion and are too narrow). I will provide this information when you are ready. Please let me know. Sfindle (talk) 17:56, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
What is the substance?
editThe article doesn't seem to describe the actual material that is called Cordura.Landroo (talk) 22:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- My research indicates it's usually 100% nylon, but—as the article already mentioned—it may also contain a certain amount of natural fiber. I've updated the article to reflect this. I also deleted this line, which followed that section:
- To use the Cordura brand name, each fabric should be tested and approved by Invista.
- Purely promotional, IMHO... As Cordura is Invista's trademark, they'd obviously have to approve its use by other manufacturers. AndyFielding (talk) 06:55, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Clearly not just straight nylon, as this article points to Jansport packs made of polyester Cordura, and a quick web search for polyester Cordura finds it sold as such as a fabric. Mucketymuck (talk) 03:52, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
