I wanted to add that Connor McDavid made the First All-Star Team in 2017 and 2018, rather than just 2017. 199.19.253.106 (talk) 17:15, 5 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Connor McDavid son

edit

Is Connor McDavid the son of Sabres captain Jack Eichel? If he is, we need source. Kaseng55 (talk) 05:32, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

No, they are not related. The edit you reverted was vandalism, so thanks for that! PKT(alk) 11:59, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 19:43, 8 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Career statistics section is unsourced.
    • Added source.
  • What makes bardown.com a reliable source?
    • Removed, but it was one of several sources, so the information is retained. FWIW, I have two scripts to measure reliable sources, and neither flagged BarDown.
  • What was controversial about McDavid leaving the Express for the Marlboros in 2011?
    • Rewrote per what the source says.
  • What's a "natural hat-trick"?
    • Added an internal link.
  • Not a GA requirement, but there are plenty of duplicate links and some cases where the first instance of a word is not the linked instance. Captain (ice hockey) is linked twice in the lead alone, and point (ice hockey) is linked twice in the first few paragraphs of the body. Sidney Crosby is linked three times in the body. These are just examples; there are more. They should be cleaned up but I won't hold up a GA pass for this.
    • Removed most with the help of a script highlighting duplinks. Until automatically removing them is easier (AWB has its issues in this regard), it's an inevitable devil.

That's everything. The writing is straightforward; the images all are tagged appropriately; and I see no MoS issues that would prevent GA. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 01:44, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

GhostRiver, just checking you are planning to work on this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:59, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Mike Christie, I intend to get to it later today! Thank you for the reminder! — GhostRiver 14:48, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
OK, great. I've been holding off on reviewing more of your nominations in case you were too busy to work on them, but should be able to get to some more of yours in the next few days. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 15:08, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Mike Christie I've addressed all points. — GhostRiver 18:31, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Fixes look good; passing. Re bardown.com, I wasn't saying it was unreliable, just that I couldn't see evidence that it was reliable -- if you can show it's reliable there's no reason not to use it. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 21:44, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Excessive detail; too long

edit

It seems that this article is far too long and delves into unnecessary detail. For example, the paragraph:

They drew the Los Angeles Kings in the first round for the second consecutive year, entering as the favourite to advance. The Oilers ousted the Kings in six games, with McDavid and Draisaitl again credited as dominant forces in the contest, and moved to face the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round. The second round matchup attracted media attention due to the presence of Jack Eichel on the Golden Knights roster, as Eichel had been drafted second overall in the same year as McDavid and was viewed at the time as a potential career rival, though the narrative had largely faded in the following years due to neither party's interest in establishing further tension, Eichel's original Buffalo Sabres team from 2015 to 2021 not achieving much success, and the Sabres being in a different division and conference than the Oilers. The Oilers were ultimately defeated by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights in a six-game series, bringing their postseason to an end.

would be better written as:

They drew the Los Angeles Kings in the first round for the second consecutive year and ousted the Kings in six games, with McDavid and Draisaitl again credited as dominant forces in the contest. The Oilers were defeated by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights in the second round.

While this example is just one of many, it is egregious since much of the content deals with the Oilers season and not with McDavid in particular.

Should the article be edited significantly or would that simply be a waste of time? Sxg169 (talk) 13:43, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
