Objection to deletion, merge

"It is proposed that this article be deleted because of the following concern: Wikipedia is not a dictionary. This article was created primarily as a vehicle for spamming. "

This article doesn't look like a dictionary definition to me. Looking at the contribs of the creator of this article, I'm not seeing a pattern of commercial spamlinking, but more likely a newbie who linked poor references. Some of the links were commercial, some weren't. I think there's a case for good faith here.

Anyway, the article is quite short, and probably won't be expanded any time soon. It seems like a candidate for merging with the closely related article Coffee table. Matt Fitzpatrick 17:58, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

In Germany

edit

I haven't found a WP:de link yet. Harald Jäner in Aftermath: Life in the Fallout of the Third Reich, 1945-1955 (transl. 2021 from Wolfzeit, 2019) has this to say:

Some amenities were imposed on the Germans by force. In the apartments confiscated by the occupying forces, many GIs had simply sawn off the legs of the tables so they could put their feet up more comfortably. When the owners returned months later, after overcoming their initial horror they ackowledged how comfortable it was. [pp291-2]

A startling and somewhat appealing story, but un-footnoted and a little fishy: this page describes some Bauhaus ventures before the war. Sparafucil (talk) 21:43, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
