editU.S. Army 8th Calvary Troop "A" was sent in and assisted in rounding up individuals during the 1901 rebellion. Marilyn Monroe's Great Uncle was involved in this event as a U.S. Calvary Soldier. William Marion Hogan was AKA William Marion Sellars. Information concerning the "crazy snake uprising" is listed here: http://digital.library.okstate.edu/encyclopedia/entries/C/CR004.html This link states that the U.S. 8th Calvary was not needed. However, William Marion Hogan does state that they were indeed rounding up individuals which certainly implies that that the 8th Calvary had a much greater role to play is this event.
